Well most of you would be well aware of what happened yesterday about the unfourunate attack on a Latrobe University student in the Borchardt library toilets. I was actually in the library when this occured.

I was sitting at a computer station amongst another 30 people or so.. and it was dead quiet. Then to my suprise as im deep in writing a paper on global environmetal issues :P i hear screaming. It was actually very very loud considering how quiet a library is. The poor girl comes running down the main flight of stairs behind me screaming and holding her side. Everyone didnt know what was happening. Word got around within a few seconds after she yelled that she had been stabbed and about half the people around me evacuated the library immediately. Within a minute or two, Latrobe security were on the scene (full credit to there quick respose) and everyone started exiting the library. About 10 people stayed around the girl and compforted her the best they could until medic could arrive. By then i was on my way out of the library.

Anyway pretty hairy stuff. I didnt realise the extent of it. (maybe just thought it was a dispute between 2 girls and one of them stabbed the other with a pen or something)

Apparently this girl is a little crazy! and had thoughts of killing someone, brought steak knives to school, and waited in the bathroom for someone.

Well thats my story, nothing too amazing or nothing that most havent heard on the news. I hope the girl makes a fully recovery and is back on her feet as soon as possible. And the bitch  that did that, gets exactly whats she deserves. the full extent of the law. (anyone know how, when and where they caught her?)

I think that the University and Library staff handled the situation very well and responded immediately. :D

any other experiences or insights?

Jake

People need to loosen up, I mean seriously what is with the world today? Gee the person sh|ts me, think I'll take a gun or knife to school and kill someone....I get so sick of hearing about this sort of crap on the news and the worst thing is it seems to be a more common occurrence these days.

i think all the violent games, movies and progams that are socially accepted today has something to blame. i mean i love to play gory shot&chop em up games once in a while, watch a scary graphical movie once in a while but everythings been kinda overloaded over the years people have become de-sensatised even on normal tv like CSI and the like and that freakin live anatomy on SBS...wtf?? talk about teaching some phsyco how to carve someone up. my lil sis whos only in primary school sometimes surfs the channel to find someone decapatated or their chest ripped open on those crime investigation series. when i was in highschool(class of 96) i dont remember anything as graphical as these programs on tv...you had to actually make an efffort to find it....anyone remember faces of death? those were farked up.

the worlds a stranger place now then it was back then....

^^^basti

ah apparently from what i heard on the news, that she had a ruptured spline, and a puncted lung. now i saw her running down the stairs and didnt see a hell of a lot of blood. so naturally i didnt think it was as bad. but adreniline and shock will cause you to be very active and loud no matter whats happened to you. its f**king sad that there are people out there (even in Melbourne) thats think and act in such a manor. i hope she gets everything she deserves and then some.

hey jake you might have seen my sis as she was at the bottom of the stears and on her way up to the toilt when this happend she said she was about 30 sec from going in there. .

pretty sad tho, and as to what one of you guys said about all the voilence to day i would have to agree, all you ever see with games movies or tv shows is sex, sexual refrences and voilence and or how you should live your life.

Thank god we can't buy guns at KMart.

HaHa...you seen that doco also? ...Bowling for Culombine with that Moore dude?

Aparently in America they also get special deals when opening up a new account with a bank. -Open a new account, get a free gun!. LoL @ Americans handing out guns in a bank

I heard on the radio the offender is being charged with murder, didnt apply for bail and is in custody till August for a hearing.

I can't belive the ammount of bullshit thats going on in todays world... but the worst part about it is we don't hear or see half of the shit that goes on...

I suppose Australia isn't as bad as other countries, the media makes it out like we're just as bad but thats their job (to scare the public as much as "making them aware")

They blame these sorts of issues on video games as such... everyone who's been involved in shooting/stabbing people especially work or school colleagues have had past mental issues and people have actually spotted it just like what you said jake33, that she was cracked and people don't actually try to help them or point them in the right direction instead they point the finger and say "haha your f**ked in the head... get away from me".

Instead of pointing the finger maybe they should give people a hand and help them through their physchoticness (if thats even a word). They really should be getting to the roots of the problems not waiting till it grows and then try and fix it..

FFS people have pshycotic episodes all the time and people can see that they do... but hey everyone is for themselves so i suppose it'll just keep hapening.

My 2 cents...

i believe that one of the biggest factors in the general degeneration of society today is the break down of family and social values.

it can't be coincidence that as the rate of suicide, drugs, abortion, violence etc goes up so does the rate of divorce and the break-down of the family structure.

my 2 cents.

Hmm I was at latrobe when this happened, and I had absoloutly no idea, I didn't see the police the ambulances or the news crew until I got home. I thought my friend was joking.....

I agree very much with what Gazee said. It's easy to point your finger and comment on how sick and twisted they are but you have to ask yourself why they're that way. Could be for a whole heap of tragic reasons. I'm no expert on the matter, but it seems that alot of the shootings that happened in the US were done by kids that were being teased, and given crap for being weird.

Latrobe sent everyone (who goes there) a few emails, the person who commited the stabbing has been charged with attempted murder. They are also offering counselling to anyone who may need it involving the matter which is good to see.

Of course there's all kinds of rumors going around, such as the girl who commited the stabbing studied behavioural science (how ironic.. probably untrue) and that she talked about killing or wanting to kill people or something.. meh rumors.

But I feel sorry for all parties involved, because for some sad reason ones persons life got screwed up, and because of that it's going to get worse, and now another persons life is going to be screwed up. And then theres all the trauma involved for those that witnessed it ect ect..

so... in america they have shooting rampages but in australia they have stabbings... WE NEED TO CATCH UP! jk jk

some people need a pole to the spine, so they know they arnt the only one who is crazy!

    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
