I have a 5 minute old N1 Water pump for R33 -34 GTR for sale. Asking $260 including postage to anywhere in Aus

I incorrectly bought this brand new last week for $340 and fitted it to my R32GTR to find that it doesn't seal correctly. I have just rang nissan and have been told there is a slight differance for an R32GTR water pump and this pump will only fit a r33 - 34 gtr hence why it wouldn't seal properly. I rang the car on the host for 5 min with the water pump on, that's it. Still brand new! Have reciepts ect.

whats the difference?

i was always under the impression that all RB water pumps were the same. hence why i want to run a N1 pump on my RB30/26dett

Premo,

There is an elongated bolt hole in the N1 water pump which seals correctly on R33-R34GTRs but for a 32 and probably rb30 you need to tig weld the hole up and re-drill the correct size. Otherwise it leaks from here. Other than that is identical.

hi mate sorry to chat in your thread but weld it up and it will work fine - AFAIK there are no r32 n1 water pumps - better check nissan didnt give you a standard 32 one instead

Duncan,

I've since done the research and found out exactly the same thing. It is a genuine N1 pump and requires the elongated hole to be welded up. I had already purchased a new standard pump and fitted it SO IT'S STILL UP FOR SALE if someone wants it!!! I couldn't be stuffed changing my pump again.

Price is $240 posted as above.

Have a look at the photos on this post, there is one long hole close to the impeller, this needs to be filled in with a welder and redrilled to a 6mm bolt only on a 32gtr though. It will seal on a 33 and 34 as is.

use some liquid metal putty to fill the hole (allow room for the bolt though), done it on mine and had no issues and plenty of others have done it. saves welding it and distorting the flange surface if it gets too hot. about a 5 min and $10 job to do it :)

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
