hmmm both the paint jobs are pretty sheap, they tried to paint a little bit inside the engine bay of both cars to make it look better but i looks pretty bad...

The orange one has a longer rego, is mechanically standard, but has a full aftermarket bodykit which is quite hard to find for a sedan, but this is a 1989 model with 117k kms

The green one however has aftermarket exhaust, wheels, filter etc, still has a bosy kit but is a newer 1990 model (this one has the type m velour seats) and only 107k kms on it but rego expires in October.

In my opinion I would try for the orange one, even though it may be a year older with a few more ks a standard car will let you do it your way in the way of mods (like my car was standard when i got it ) and is less likely to have mechanical failures as its standard, plus having the full BN kit fitted is a bonus, and when it does come time that you do start to modify having standard parts to clear a defect will be very helpful....otherwise you will have to borrow or worst case spend more money and buy standard parts'

Also to note he said he wont bidge on the price, whether you can get either car down to $9k is another thing

But go down see if he will take u for a spin and see how they go, if the make funny noises etc (what ever you do when your buying a car) and then make a decision, but in the end its up to you

thanks for that dude.

how can you tell that the paint is shit though? it looks pretty good to me :nyaanyaa: i noticed how the engine hasn't been taken out to paint that area but the body looks nice and shiny lol

yeah i was leaning more towards the orange 1 for the reason that it has no engine mods at all and that it has a nicer kit. not a fan of the green colour either but i do like it still.

i'll give him a call maybe tomorow and arrange an inspection.

i've offered him 8500 for the green 1 but he said he wont go less than 9000 as he just did the brakes and would still need 4 new tires for rwc.

if its all good do you reckon either of em would be a good buy for say $8500?

thanks

is this guy a dealer? Alot of dealers seem to have their cars in bright colours with fresh paint jobs and kits ect ect.. I have a feeling that they like to bring in damaged cars and then fix them up cheaply. So I would be very cautious. Don't get sold on the price, take it for a proper mechanical inspection at the least.

Yeh they bodge up the paint by doing quick jobs by not taking out the engine and painting bright colors like Rylan said, this helps sell the cars because people think wow a nice bright color and just been painted...but it may have had damage or the paint could just be shit job and you might need another paint again......if you are generally interested its best to go look at the car, have and proper mechs inspection and just check out the condition of the outside.

To see if it has been repaired stand at the front/back and look down each side ofthe car if it is very rippled then you know it has been repaired quickly, also look at the paint closer and if you se deep scratchs (shrink markSs) then they have repaired it quickly and havnt left the hifill to dry properly or havnt polish the car after its been sprayed....all of this still ends up l;eading back to the car being painted very quickly to get it sold.

And also check if the window mouldings/rubbers have been taken off when they sprayed the car sometimes they leave them on to do a quik job.

But if all is ok make sure u get the vin number and ring Vicroads for previous stolen/damage reports

But if all is ok and you get the car for the right price, find no mechanical faults, paints ok....later on you can spray the engine bay black, just remove a few things an will look good

he told me to call him monday to arrange an inspection ^ i sms'ed him just to see if he was actually firm on the price like it says in the ad. obviously he is nego :(

i'll be taking my cousin who is a mechanic/panel beater who has been buying damaged cars and turning em into show cars for over 10 years now. he will pick out any previous damages or dodgy things quite easily so yeah not too worried about that.

there auto ........u want auto?

prefer manual but i don't mind auto.

i was looking at getting a manual R33 but then realised i'm still on my Ps with auto license and in vic. i wanna drive legally till i get off my Ps (6months or so)

plus i'm in traffic everyday so it would make life alot easier. these 2 4doors caught my eye, would be interesting driving something different. i'm yet to see a modded 4 door skyline on the road.

thanks for the help guys, appreciate it!! :)

i'm yet to see a modded 4 door skyline on the road.

Thats cause you havnt seen mine on the road yet :)....BTW if you have ur car by the end of this week were going for a 4 doors only cruise (to be advised where still) but may get a chance to be put in HPI magazine :(

both of these cars are in my area............. in the green on had been for sale for somtime now but now sold

as for the orange one that hasnt been around for long unless he painted it on put a kit on it

as for the kms i wouldnt worry about it a second hand rb20 is around 1k, but paying 9k for it .............. i wouldnt unless it had some type of engine/suspension work to it or it is mint ,MINT condition

i got my 32 4 door for 10k 156kms engine hasnt missed a beat/ nismo lsd / nismo clutch / suspension / full exhaust / fmic /18''rims /manual

so its somthing to think about

^^ well if pics are anything to go by, it looks to be in very clean condition. will go either tomorow or wednesday check it out see how it goes. i'll see how low i can get the price.

what i was thinking was since this is a 4door automatic i think there would be a very small chance of it being thrashed or driven hard in the past. you never know though.

lol your car's fkn nice man seen pics of it. this cruise sounds good but we see how things go :whistling:

thanks

"Thoughts On These 2 R32 Sedans, please"

:)

In my opinion - they both look disgusting. And I'm not talking about my opinions on thier mods. Listen to Rylan and Nick...both top guys and whom of which I have met...these cars look/seem smelly and dolled up to cover defects...only a proper inspection can tell otherwise and I strongly suggest you get one done before you hand over money. I'm always wary of resprayed imports...especially bright colours and kitted ones...(unless they're done PROPERLY...which are few and far between)

Also, if your budget is around $8k (as per your PM), I think you'll struggle to get a NICE example...even in auto. They're out there but finding a clean one is the hard part...finding a clean one for $8k will be even harder. Not only that...there's no use getting an average car for $8k and spending 2-3k on bits and pieces to get it right...save yourself the heartache and buy a GOOD car straight off the bat. And if someone is willing to negotiate over sms, I'd say they're pretty keen to get rid of it...which raises the question of why? My 2c.

Good luck!

Chris

really? don't like the look at all? i think orange 1 would look good sitting low on some nice rims with the right offset....

anyways i think its worth a look atleast. we'll go check it out and see what happens.

thanks

Yeah wirth a look, I hope I'm wrong...cheers

Howd u go R-SPEC?

definately always get em checked properly... i tried to talk my mate out of a 180 that was painted in a bright blue and had a big kit and wheels... he didnt listen and when he bought it around i showed him how dodgey that paintjob was and that his massive front bar was held on with wood screws and bog...

its like someone with a low self esteem bulking up at the gym for 5 years until hes huge to make himself seem like a sick c**t... under all that BS hes still the same twat.

kinda weird analogy lol but u get the point... big kits and bright paint on a stock car generally mean pig in wolfs clothing :P

what about this one? lookz the goods

That's my car...or at least it was...it's been sold. And it IS the goods...if I do say so myself... :)

(Having trouble getting off Carsales for some reason...)

There's a really nice one on J-Spec...the interior looks IMMACULATE! If I were to get another one (which I almost did) that car would be it...

couldnt find any on the jspec page... but yeah your old one looked good and had lots of potential with those rims.

this ones on there tho... looks clean as well

Ive seen the yellow one a fair few times, all ways see it when i goto get food durring lunch. havent see it moving but parked it doesnt look to bad.

As for the exterior modifications its a find out who did it. and then go check on there previous work ie pics ask people and what not and then youll get an idea of quality and realability

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
