If this is an East Bear item i can tell you the quality is awesome ! :O

Yes it's East Bear and the quality is second to none, bolts straight on to East Bears GTR style ( for GT and GTT ) Front Bar.

Could be fitted straight on to GT and GTT style bars with a little custom work at the sides.

-- Mate, good to see you actually recieved something from Pplay... I took advice from SAU members and ordered this lip from PowerPlay Imports (Joanne) in on 9 July, 2007 and paid 50% deposit ($285)...Now, 4 months later (14 Nov)..I still haven't recieved anything or had any confirmation from Joanne.

I'm starting to belive this whole thing is a con..I was told it takes 4-6 weeks to import from Japan and deliver. I patiently waited and for the first 2 months when the lip was on the way from Japan ..and the last two months everytime I called she said she sent it out and I would recieve in 3 working days. The '3' working days have passed now and now no one picks up the phone at Powerplay anymore (on the number supplied above).

PowerPlay is Bull, I'm in Syd next week..might pay them a lil' visit when Im there and settle this once and for all..

Does fibreglass crack easily? I've got a genuine S3 lip, but it's been colour coded to the car. Might just be easier to buy a fibreglass one??

TommO - fibreglass is fine, until you hit something.

even so - i wore 2 holes in the bottom of my bar when i had it stupid low for a couple of weeks, no cracking, just holes in it :( keep your gen one, and if cheap enough grab a FPR one for everyday driving

I am going to paint my bottom lip tomorrow from goldie yellow to matt black...

I am thinking of priming it down then sand it out all rough edges then prime again but a few layers of paint before going gloss... is this right?

Thanks for the tips fellas... I spent over 1 hour and finally have a really top-looking GT-R-style front lip... I primed it twice then gave it 3 coats of matt black paint... turned out awesome!!

    • Hello Liam - HA - somewhere in flies - possibly I have an update, but I have been so busy, projects have taken a back seat to getting business back on track.  I will let you know the outcome, but I think I am going to go for the 8HP,  CHEERS.  ELVIS
    • Thanks Joshuaho96, yes - as someone else also suggested, the 8HP seems the 'smart choice' - HA - and ZERO to do with cost, but I am sure 8 speeds will be better than 6 speeds - HA - maybe.  I will purchase a new 8HP,  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Nobody said anything about getting a "...cheap Falcon box..."- it was JUST a question about a specific transmission.  And YOU may have a problem with not enough $ - HA - I do NOT - so please keep your comments like you are some financial guru to yourself.  BUT - much appreciated re the cost of a new 8HP and I twill probably be the way I go.  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Most people I know in the BMW world are swapping 6HPs for 8HPs. The 6HP has a big issue with one of the clutch drum bushings wearing out shockingly early which leads to them going into limp mode going into 5th/6th gear as the oil pressure loss from the worn bushing causes clutch slip. Even with the adaptations in shifting the TCU can't bump line pressure enough to keep the clutches from slipping and burning. I've personally looked at a 335d with 6HP28 with one owner and ~90k miles on it and the transmission adaptations were way out of spec and even though it nominally drove ok I'm confident it would have needed a full rebuild sooner than later. Other than that they're fine, but the 8HP doesn't really have weird issues like this to my knowledge and they're in everything these days so pulling them out of crashed cars isn't too hard.
    • There is an ABS pump and a few solenoids. You could trigger the front/rear solenoids with a pressure bleeder attached with a Consult 2.
