Hey guys!

Currently setting up my new project.

Im on the hunt for 500kw on the rears.

Interested in knowing the following

- cams? 256?264?272?

- Turbo? 3540? T04z? Gt42?

- How Much boost?

- Injector Size? 750?850?1000cc?

Is there anyone on the forum that has 400/ 500 kw setup in their car.

Curious to know how much work is required plus the components needed.

As per the graph, max power is 578 hp at the rear wheels. This is an improvement of 37 hp on the same dyno by fitting a 272IN cam (previous 264) and spending dyno time optimising cam timing.

Setup is:

N1 block

HKS 2.8L crank

Nismo bearings

Pauter rods

ATI crank damper

HKS nickel coated pistons

GT-RS low mounts at 25 psi

HKS bridged manifold

HKS hard piping induction kit

Apexi 136mm IC

Greddy plenum

HKS fuel rail (twin entry, single return)

HKS fuel regulator

HKS 680 injectors

Nismo intank fuel pump (direct power feed)

HKS step 2 cams (272IN, 272EX)

HKS guides, springs and retainers

HKS timing belt

HKS cam gears

HKS metal head gasket

Ported head

Trust oil pump

N1 water pump

HKS dumps, pipes and exhaust

PFC D-Jetro

Blitz dual solenoid BC

Splitfire coils

HKS Twin Power CDI

HKS twin plate clutch

GTS4 diff centres front and rear (shorter ratio than GT-R)

I just made that same power with GT-RS turbo's on 21 psi with pump fuel and a light tune.

a few differences though Nissan crank, bigger cams, more headwork. but much the same. All big $$ brand name stuff, Jun Hypertune etc. It will see some more boost this week as well as some race fuel and increased timing figures.

but budget at least $25000-$30000

Arrive at good reputation workshop with 1 x GTR R32, R33, R34 who cares.........

Open cheque book and say " how much for 500kw at the rear wheels?"

Expect to write a cheque for at least $30,000.00

Arrive 2 to 3 weeks later to pick up 500kw GTR

Drive off down the road smiling smuggly to yourself knowing that you will have one of the fastest cars to 50km/h on the planet.

    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
    • Yeah, I would have said the same. It makes me suggest that there are other things wrong, such that the ECU is totally unhappy with the broken sensor. The only other thought here is that maybe it is shorted, which might cause a different issue to the typical "disconnected" sensor.
