Hey Fellas,

I'm fairly new to this forum - love it to bits though.

I've met a few really cool friends from here already.

Anyways, was proposing a Skyline cruise to Lorne via the Great Ocean Road in around 3 week's time.

Was wondering if anyone is interested. If I can get some names, I will definitely organise this and make it grand.

More details will follow if I get enough names.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Gday mr Munky..

3 weeks time could see this cross paths with other events going on.

There is a Skyline /Wrx drag day planned for 24th june.

Witch is um 3 may be 4 weeks away . So to get more cars and people

To your cruise just look at whats on and when and try and slot it in somewhere..

The GOR is a good run so you should get a few (weather pending) to come ..

Good luck.. :P

Oh yeah

If it all works out i will come along..

Thanks fellas, this is my first cruise and first time organising one with ya guys so thanks for the support up front.

Ok, so I guess things are looking pretty bright.

I use to be on OzHonda a couple of months back so I guess I got a fairly descent idea of how cruises work.

Ok, I will organise something. If I get 6+ cars I'll be happy as just want this to be a good friendly thing doesn't have to be big stuff.

He's what I had in mind fellas (just a rough sketch now but will of course put up maps, routes and program etc soon)...

We meet somewhere near Western suburbs as going to Geelong and further would probably be a good idea.

There's this large Bunnings carpark in Sunshine, 8 minutes drive from Highpoint shopping centre... perhaps we can all meet there... then we cruise up to Lorne via Great Ocean Road - stop there for some pictures, catch up a bit, enjoy the breeze then we go to Lorne for lunch then... rest a bit then cruise back to Lygon street for dinner... that's just a rough idea and of course I am open to further suggestions from you fellas.

Thanks again.

sounds liek a plan mate, you can count me in weather permitting. not gonna do it in the rain, if its dry its an awesome run. only thing i would suggest is going through to apollo bay. it way better to accomodate for cars and has a better vantage point for a photo.

if you want a good plan on how to org a gor cruise, jump in the archives, there was one that i was involved in and had heaps of details and a good turnout.

cheers

daniel

fark..that is one hell of a drive...i will bring a back up driver for the day

if it gets organised (and if its not just for sau members), i can ask a 3 of my friends to come along with their cars (a skyline r33, a wrx, and an accord euro)

only a sau club exeitive can orgonise a offical sau cruise.

would be good tho just make it some time after july 1 as im away. like the idea of lygon street tho.

if you wont a hand give us a yell as i orgonised the last GOR run.

Fellas, thanks so much for your support - so far, so good - therefore this cruise will go ahead. I will of course confirm 4 days before the event if there is any sudden signs of poor wealther, otherwise this is a turner!

OK, sounds great, I will post maps, details and/or instructions by next weekend Sunday 17/06 - that's 1 week before the event!

At the moment, I am thinking of making this a fairly low-key event as it's my first time organising...

But yeah, all opinions are taken onboard of course.

THIS IS OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS - however, I would like to keep it a Skylines only cruise if it's ok with everyone.

Regards,

General comment to all:

GREAT to see so many newish people, to these forums, organise non-member cruises. Reminds me of how SAU (in Victoria) use to be, back in the days. If i had my car i would be out there with you all!

Till then, happy cruising and keep up the good work :D

Great guys....

Was just wondering... where do you guys wanna have lunch? I was thinking somewhere in Lorne? There's a fairly descent carpark near the information centre - any ideas? Or do you guys wanna go for dinner... we might as well go underground paid parking in the city then?

Now I'm going to have to decide weather to go this, or to the drag day.

the 23rd will be my end of exams celebration day. :)

Bro - not saying the drag day is not as exciting - probably is ...

But I suppose, it's not very common that we have a nice turnout like this one for a cruise up the Great Ocean Road, am I right?

Hope you can come bro, bring some of your friends too.

Hope to see you there.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Well fellas, so far there's like 20 people coming (including myself and a few friends).

Like discussed before, maps, details and a program guide will be up by next weekend.

If you have any requests on where we should go for lunch, stops, photo shots or suggestions etc - please post them up now as once these details have been finalised, I guess we should stick to it to avoid any confusions as the cruise is only a fortnight away.

I wil do my best to make this cruise a memorable one.

Regards and thank you all.

    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
