Well I just picked up GTS1 SVD #157 and I must say ...I had almost forgotten how much fun these cars are. I sold these new back in 1988 and the way they drove then left a lasting impression on me.

Technically this is the wifes new drive car as she wanted to quit the Hyundai Lantra wagon. She claims it leaves her feeling brain dead which I understand perfectly :O Anyhow ...expect to see Cambo and I rock up with it at the next cruise ...I don't need much of an excuse to strap this baby on :P

Not sure if we will make it to the drags this Sunday but we will try. Does anyone have any idea how long the lane is booked for ? Like will people still be there at 2 or 3 PM ??

ps. Anyone want to buy a Lantra wagon ?? It holds lots of stuff and doesn't drink very much :)

The day finishes at 4pm, starts at Noon.

Last entries to race are at 3pm.

I'm only takin my Pintara wagon and will probably only do 2 or 3 passes so I doubt I'll still be there...

If you could be there at 2 there should be plenty happening, by 3pm things will be winding down a bit;)

For those that like to see pictures ....well here are a couple that I have taken today. You will see that the previous owner hacked up the front grill (i'll strangle him) because if was getting too hot idling in traffic with the air/con on. He didn't think to replace the viscious coupling fan clutch which is stuffed.

The guy was asking $9000 but I didn't think it was worth that. I wont say what I paid but I expect that if I put it on the market here in Perth I would get somewhere between $7000 and $8000 as it is.

The drive line is pretty strong with only a few minor problems. The interior is also above average condition with only a couble of blemishes. The body work is above average condition but I am planning to give it a coat of paint and sort a couple of ripples and minor blemishes out.

I really want to get rid of that hacked up grill as well ...it annoys me :P

Shit yeah he hacked up the grille alright!!....iiiidiot

I got this bit of info once as I was lookin for one........If you buy one let me know I might grab one as well.......discount for 2 :D

22nd June would be nice. Hopefully I will have some better quality tires by then. My wife is keen to have a go at the quarter mile so I don't think having the GTS step out sideways on her would NOT be a good idea.

Cam is not quite ready to take the GTS down the strip ...maybe later in the year after I have taught him how to launch and how to drive fast without destroying the car.etc.

My daughter pointed that one out to me in the Auto Trader as she knows I want another one. Unfortunately building a new house plus garage is full ATM.

Having said that if anyone sees #101 I want it back for a full restoration:)

Cheers

Hey R34 ...my garage is worse than full ...its spilling out onto the street. Last count we got 5 cars here. I need to sell the Lantra wagon bad ...its such a pain shifting these cars about LOL However I just couldn't resist the GTS ...I have wanted one of these forever and the price was right.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
