WogsRus
Hi all Briging up an old post http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...20Z32&st=60 I got a question. I am looking at upgrading my turbo and have a Central 20 ecu, which Dr Drift can now re-chip with new maps. So that is what will hapen down the track. However for now, I know the SAFC II will accept a Z32 AFM values and convert these to stock rb25 values for the computer to use, well so it says. My question is, if i run the 440cc injecotrs, and Z32 and a new turbo, the AFR should be close due to the Z32 leaning out the mixtures and the injectors ritching them up. Either way, i don't want to get a PFC, i'll get my ecu rechiped, but for now, would this work? Any idea if the above project worked? xRHETTx
So you are saying will it work before you get the ecu rechipped? If so, you should be able to work out the amount of correction required by combining the ratio of the injector sizes and then the voltage/air flow outputs of the afm. I highly doubt it would come out to be around zero (which is what you are asking i think). An ecu remap should be able to correct for the z32 afm and different injectors. WogsRus
disregard topics, read enough to find out it will work Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3190803 Share on other sites
Tangles
use a Nismo adjustable fuel pressure regulator and yeah you'll be fine can go up to around 480cc with a safc2, z32afm, fpr etc. I was going to get soem deuscthwerks 450cc injectors, but cant be bothered. Beer Baron
the real question is why don't you want a PFC? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3191110 Share on other sites
paulr33
save yourself all the crap, guess work and time and just buy a real ecu powerfc is perfect and the car will drive like new once fully tuned youll never look back on a properly tuned car Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3191123 Share on other sites
WogsRus
Cos i can use my current ECU and program a new chip, plus the PFC is not what i would call a great computer. This is horspower on a budget, working well so far. LOL. LOL. I can understand the need to do it on a budget as im doing that myself at the moment but you really should think about a PFC cobber. Think of it this way: Dr Drift remap = $350 dyno time = $180 an hour plus if you have to go over there to him OR if you have to pay dyno time to check the tune locally and have more chips sent. I just cant see the sense really myself but good luck to you and your efforts to get more power to keep up to the mighty RB20 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3191331 Share on other sites
MANWHORE
why on earth would you want a powerfc, when the stock ecu can be tuned to do exactly the same as what the power fc can and more e.g. retain things that the powerfc doens't have. A powerfc tune will cost you 5-600. A remap will cost whatever around there. why pay 1k for a pfc and then pay for a tune, when you can skip paying the 1k? Highflow injectors z32 all the goodies and a stock ECU with a CEF11E Remap.... rather cost effective... $50 origional tune $50 dyno time to check afms which were perfect... = 230rwkw another $50 for a retune as i did some mods and wanted a couple of changes... perfect tune, perfect fuel ratios, bit more power... soon comes cam gear - $250ish + $50 retune = 260rwkw still very under the $1100 + tuning that a Power FC would have cost.... makes just as much power, got a readout on my dash with my ECUtalk, responsive etc etc of course wouldnt work for everyone but its been very sucessful for myself! grandmasterb
The limiting factor i see with a remap is that you have no way of monitoring knock levels, you cant pull timing out/add timing where needed in an emergency, you are limited to who can do the work (for Wog there is no one in the Tassie currently) and each and everytime he wants to make changes to the cars set up or tune then it means getting another chip sent, putting the car on the rollers and checking it (if its not right or needs tweaking then you have to wait on another chip) and then back on the rollers!!! Im going from a remap ECU to a PFC for a few reasons, i have an awesome tuner here that is local, he is doing mates rates, has great work ethic and takes pride in each and every car/tune like its his own. At the end of the day its different strokes for different folks and i know the Wog isn't the easiest guy to change his mind once its set Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3191523 Share on other sites

The difference between that though is that you weren't charged to modify the stock ECU (putting the IC socket in) and the cost of the tune Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3191532 Share on other sites
Haysey
The difference between that though is that you weren't charged to modify the stock ECU (putting the IC socket in) and the cost of the tune what do you mean? ive got a mate who is an auto elec, that soldered a cradle in to suit the aftermarket chips, this wouldnt cost more than $30 at any auto elec though.. and ive paid for all of my tunes so far... Hey knock levels can be an issue for some, your right about the tunes.. each to their own my friend, its just another side of the story Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3191592 Share on other sites

The thing is i know Wog and i know how he likes to fiddle with his car which he wont be able to do 100% as he is limited with the tuning options of a remap and no one doing it in Tassie which means he's relying on someone else to post down chips to him then going to a dyno here to check it. He cant just make little tweaks here or there freely, he cant knock a little time in or out if he's out the track etc. Anyway enough rambling from me, im not saying that remaps are rubbish or having ago at Sam or his work, im just looking at it from point of view and think personally that a PFC is a better way to go for me, that may not mean its the same for everyone else though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3191625 Share on other sites
WogsRus
I agree with you GMB, you know me, compulsive tinkerer. I am going to keep my SAFC ii eaven after i get a remap, simply because it has so many usefull readouts. The other reason i want to keep a remap, is it has high and low octame maps, two different timming maps, deceleration values and a whole heap more. Anyway, i know for now it will work with the setup i have so thanks for all the advice guys. GMB, hopefully we can catch up on our cruise, hows the car going? Go the windows in? Only too well hence my replies I'll be at the cruise dude dont worry about that Hopefully motor and box in this weekend and then everything from there, have a guy that is going to do a cash job to put the 1/4 glass so that saves me hassles... What comes after that is a little bit of a secret but its going to be phat, sound a little different from the stock cat back and running on a Summers special Its called "the little RB20 that could" :laughing-smiley-014: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/173651-ok-got-a-questioncentral-20-ecu-safc-ii-440cc-injectors-z32/#findComment-3191959 Share on other sites
