hi guys im on my P's and i cant drive a turbo car i got caught with my r33 turbo'd so i took it off since i lost my licence for it...

ive tried thinking of ways to hide it so i can still have some decent performance, i tried searching google for other people ideas and i found this video from youtube...

tell me what u guys think and how did he set this up because i would love to do it since cops would never look there for a turbo...

or if u have any other ways i can hide a turbo and get away with it please tell me

also they say on this video u wouldnt need a cooler since the turbo is so far away from the engine and cold air just keeps bushing past it...

please post serious comments on what ive said as i like to do this setup or a better 1 if u guys know any other ways i can hide a turbo setup

Without viewing video.

I'm thinking: Remote turbo location. Somewhere near the rear of the car.

Think lag.

Cops will just follow long piping and find it.

Plus your car is turbo from factory I'm assuming (GTS-t) so if you take the turbo off, the car is STILL on the banned list (As all of a sudden you've done an engine performance modification.)

my car is an R33 GTS "non turbo" i just turned it into a turbo engine, but then i changed it back during my licence suspension

and i wouldnt care if i had turbo lag it would still be faster then a normal n/a car right or wrong?

plus u could hide the intake piping put it through another that looks like stock plastic piping and then cut a hole and curv it out through the bottom and it will not be seen?

I have seen a successful rear mounted turbo setup but why??

There are other ways to make power out of an NA RB motor that would be probably legal in your case and what we used to do before turbos came along!

Go Old/New school! Modify your top half of the Intake manifold to run individual tuned trumpets and up the compression ratio more. As its already an NA its prob high anyway.

Fit decent extractors and new cams and adjustable gears to suit. Tune ECU.

Have you ever driven a powerful NA car with razor sharp throttle response!?

You would probably never put a turbo back on when your off your P's! :O

PS, Didnt say it would be cheap! :)

lol yeah its sounds ok but i dont wanna pay that much :O

seeing though i already have a turbo, manifold, boost control, boost gauge, that can be used with the remote setup... plus i have the dump pipe and intercooler for when i get off my P's

if you have already been done by the cops for driving a car your not allowed to, then they will be keeping a close watch on you when your back on the road, especially if your still seen driving the same car they booked you in. why not just wait out your 2-3yrs and modify the NA, pay off the car, save some money. then when your off a restricted licence go crazy on a turbo'd car.

yeah its easy to say that but i cant stand losing power and also races since i took the turbo setup off, it may come off stupid but i want to have to feeling of driving a turbo car i cbf waiting 2 more years my car doesnt look the same since the looks are being changed atm since a stupid truck reverse into my parked car.

owell, personally i wouldnt go spending money to 'hide' a turbo, cause the cops will find it, not all cops are as dumb as they look (yes i know alot are dumb, but occasionally you get one that acually owns a skyline or just knows his mechanics)

my 2cents, il leave it at that.

but if you do it, post pics, as im a tad curious where abouts you will mount it and how the car will run. (you might have that much lag you'l be better off with the NA lol)

.... sell the skyline.

Otherwise, you'll just keep getting pulled over, and even remote turbos will still be noisy. They'll find it.

If you're that desperate, get a NOS kit. Or better yet, strap on the rocket engines to the roof (aka myth busters) then light the bitches up!

Or even better, spend the same amount that you'd be spending on mods on a CAMS license and import a race only car. That way you can drive something ludicrously fast, with a concrete barrier stopping you from running people over.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
