So i got the rego renewal in the mail today for my Nissan pulsar.

480 dollars for 12 months! thats crazy it's a 1.8 litre engine and i'm paying 480 a year.

South Australia is the most rediculous state i've ever lived in. If i didn't like the place so much i'd leave.

Sure you can say if you don't want to pay leave.

But other states don't pay nearly as much as we do. And i can't really see where all the money goes.

I'm somewhat happy that i don't have my skyline anymore if i would have to pay more that 480.

Even my motorbike is about 480 a year and that think is only a 750.

quit winging, yes the government is screwing us hard and dry, but my 04 triton dual cab 4x4 is high $800 a year.

yet full comp on it is $750 for a $32,000 car.

why is rego more then insurance?

wheres all our rego money going? its sure not being spent on the roads.

if regos to much for you then get a push bike.

Krastler, I'm fairly certain that in NSW the registration doesnt include compulsary third party and they have to get a "green slip" or "pink slip" or something on top of that. SA Rego is for registration and compulsory third party... unless you can shed some other light on this?

I think VIC may pay slightly less, but its economy of scale. You think of all the extra cars they have on their roads, and we have MORE roads to look after. Therefore to be able to drive from here to the borders, we have to cover greater distance per capita for road works. So if you want to drive on dirt tracks like in the 70's we can pay less

I was going to post this very thing.

Yep, their "rego" seems cheap because they have to pay CTP separately.

our work van (Toyota Hiace) is $950 odd

have 2 of them, one is 2ys old and the other is around 7yrs old

ridiculous!

my stagea just came up as we speak - $658 for 12 months

my bike was over $500 for a .92Litre engine, now thats ridiculous!

Costs are eating up my wage, pretty depressed about the state of today's cost of living.

Health insurance is 3grand a year

Morgage is 11grand a year

Rego for 2 cars, plus insurance on 2 cars and house, is 4grand a year

Food budget is around 10grand a year for a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids - actually I give the wife $800pm for shopping and her needs)

add in fuel, add in electricity, add in gas, add in phone and internet, and my wage doesnt cover it all.

Need to rely on the Govt. "family allowance" to help get by, and Ive been at my company for 10yrs almost, working fulltime for around 13yrs now........

Pretty sad state of affairs

just paid $331 for 6months

its dear, but nothing u can do

pay it and forget about it (until the next 1 comes)

>_>

delete the whole thread it was going downhill from post #1

What?

I thought my first post was quite alright. I simply stated that i recieved rego renewal (which i'm sure every skyline owner on here has at some stage) and voiced my opinion that it was an exhobeoant amount to pay.

Next thing i hear is that i should shutup and not complain.

It seems like something that we should complain about given the state of roads in South Australia. And yes i'm aware that hardly any money from car registration is actually spent on roads. Roads are state and federal government funded mostly.

Like tangles said over 900 bucks a year for a work car.

yeah, for a 4cylinder near-new (and one a few yrs older) work van (2 x toyota hiace)... crazy

sorry for my rant at the top of this page.... I just feel we seem to get at each others necks a bit too often here, in the sa section, sometimes.

just want you all to know I have NOTHING against any of you. far from it......

so there ya go. :worship:

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
