Today a friend and myself had 3 undercover police officers come up to us and search us for no reason at all.

They searched our pockets and took down our details.

A couple of my mates got done aswell just down the road.

I asked him why they were doing this and he said that crime had been increasing in the area. It was things such as graffiti and car break-ins etc.

There were about 3 undercover cars doing laps around my area getting most of the teenagers in the areas details.

I am very pissed off at the fact that they came up and got our details for no reason. While they were doing this they could've been busting some other guy who was washing car windscreens on the side of the road (illegally), but no, instead they come up to us when we did nothing.

Are they allowed to do random checks like that??

Because if they aren't I'm ready to make a visit to the chief at the station.

I am seriously annoyed, why are they coming up to us when there are other crimes being commited that need attending to.

Dont police seriously have anything better to do.

Ah pipe down they were doing thier job, your 15 and the world is against you. I wouldnt worry.

When your old enough to own a house or have possessions of any worth, you'd care that this was being done aswell.

And yes, they are allowed to ask you questions. You dont have to answer, but you must give you name and address i believe.

If they are allowed to I don't mind as much.

But i thought that they weren't allowed to get your details and all that for no reason??

But it is still frustrating for them to come up to us when we were just walking.

tbe idea of police is to provide a prescense in the community to "police" it so that crime does not occur

too many people think police are there to solve crimes. a detective does that, they detect why a crime occured after its occured.

police are there to 'police' the environment so nothing happens

Everyone bitches and moans when cops are doing their job but it involves you, but when someone breaks into your house or steals something of yours, who is the first person (organisation) you call hmmm let me think...... ah its the cops. But no one thanks them when they find your car or catch the person that breaks in and robs you.

Stop your sooking they are putting their life's on the line every single day for the public and are forever being criticised

Guys relax I just got annoyed that they came up to us for doing nothing.

It's not like I didn't co-operate with them.

I'm not going to stop them from doing their job.

I was just making sure they are allowed to do that.

do you consider walking down a street as being something stupid??

you don't know what happened so your not to judge that we were doing something stupid.

We weren't even talking loud, and if you ask the other 30+ people that got there details taken down if they were doing something stupid, i would know there answer. I saw them questioning some other mates aswell and they werent doing anything stupid.

Oh well i'm over it now, but you my friend should not judge if you didn't witness it with your own eyes. I know that normally they wouldn't but in this case they did.

nothing really I just would've made a complaint for them unlawfully searching me. doubt that would have went very far though even if i did.

i wish the cops did that in my area. we have a park opposite our place and there are always kids making a sh1tload of noise at night. even tho we haven't been targeted yet, there's quite a lot of theft on our street and car break ins. i'm always worried about our car outside.

i've had my details taken down for standing outside my ex's (then gf) house waiting for her to come out. i wasn't even with friends.

The reason why details are taken down is so that if something occured in the area say 10min before or after the Police left they can come and see you to help them with inquiries as they know you where there...

      What are the torque specs for those 6 bolts on the retainer plate and 4 oil pan bolts? I'm currently tackling this job during an auto to manual conversion... I thought this would a 5 minute job!

      Tryna decide if I should get a skirt coating on my cp 2618 forged pistons that im about to order. Anyone have first hand experience with a forged RB with coated or non coated piston skirts? Is it worth it and does it make much difference? And for people who went with 2618 pistons with no skirt coating how long has your engine lasted? The engine is an rb25/30 and main concern is  that It will be a daily car and will probably see a fair bit of short distance driving, have been told by my machine shop and my tuner that generally a forged engine lasts around 40,000kms before needing a rebuild. Would a skirt coating make much of a difference? cheers

      Opened up the cluster to inspect the gauge itself for signs of damage and it looks good. Got curious since that needle doesn't go back to a "neutral" position by itself (it stays in the same position when ignition is off. so I manually moved it to 1/2. Connected it back, turned on the ignition and the needle started moving up! Not sure what's up with that but before that the needle was way down below empty like fully south west. There's always a chance that the needle moved slightly the first time I tried and I didn't notice because of how slowly it moves and how far it was from the markings. I don't know if the current needle position is accurate so I'll fill it up and see where that brings it. I guess I'll try to adjust it manually if it doesn't get to F. Looks like the needle position is relative and not absolute? Thanks all for your help and patience!

      You're confusing two different responders and more than one issue. The stock Neo ECU boost sensor is used by the ECU for protection purposes. It is essentially only an overboost sensor. It is not used for determining engine load for fuelling or ignition purposes. That task falls solely to the AFM. Any aftermarket ECU that either has an onboard MAP sensor or a plug in one, will use the MAP sensor as the primary load sensor. Or I should perhaps say "can", rather than "will", because some of them have the option of using other primary load sensors. That MAP sensor is not for the same function as the stock Neo boost sensor. The reason I recommended against a plug and play ECU is that they are intended to run a particular engine and usually in the car that the particular engine came in. So, if you have a transplanted engine in a different car, with some parts of the original missing (such as the boost sensor, for example) and therefore likely non-standardness of the loom and its insertion into the car's loom, then it is very likely that you will run into the same problems with needing to fix up wiring to make it work that you would with the stock ECU. And, if doing so for the stock ECU is enough of an obstacle that you start considering a standalone plugin as a solution, it should become clear that the plugin is quite possibly not the solution you'd hope it to be. It would just lead to more of the same type of problem solving work to get it going. In the above paragraph and in my earlier post, the lack of the boost sensor is not critical. It was just used as an example of something that we knew you did not have right, such that the stock ECU would not work. I took that as an indicator of a reasonable probability that there were other related problems hiding there.
