Hi, Was just reading http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=157983 and http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=149405.

Just a few questions if anyone can answer.

1. What is the wire size from the fuse distributor to the (+) positive terminal? I think it's 4G?

2. How hard is it to remove the O-Ring from the fuse distributor and replace the wire with a new one? How?

3. Grounding spots, where in the boot is a good grounding spot for an AMP? You can use the std battery ground mount?

4. 8G and 4G which is better for ground (-) and (+).?

5. The metal plate where my battery sits on is all corroded (It was like this when I got the car) Ive been running at GEL battery and it hasnt leaked so the corroed metal is just sitting there. :( is this bad?

The reason why I ask 1 and 2 is because, currently the wire from the distributor to the battery (+) terminal is very short I have to move the battery even tilt it in order to connect it. And I want to either replace the wire or grab a Gold Plated Cable Joiner.

What should I do?

Thanks.!

1. 4GA

2. removing, easy, replacing, not so easy... you will need a crimping set, and its a pretty big lug... best bet is to find the right size lug, and ask someone at jaycar to put it on some 4GA for you... no point buying a crimping set if you only use it once

3. yes, or even the terminal if its just as close... if your going to make your own, make sure to get a good solid connection, and sand any paint back...

4. 4GA the bigger the better theoretically...

5. If the battery is sealed i wouldn't worry about it, it seems like a previous battery has corroded... keep an eye out for a replacement though... or get that one sand blasted and painted if its not too bad...

the cable joiner is a temporary thing... it also seems to be bare metal, which is bad for a positive wire in a negative car... get the right size ring on some long 4GA and replace the standard one...

:)

Hmm thanks!

Guess for the time being Ill just charge the battery up and connect the wire via the terminal screw down lock thingys. Then fix everything else later..

I just wanna drive the thing!

Do you have any pictures of the O-Ring or what it looks like connected to the fuse distro and/or when it's out?

nope, but i found my camera the other day, and i just may be able to take a pic for you when i get home if i have enough time :bunny:

thats a big if though...

lol.. it's ok I got worked on my car all day today fixing wiring and other crap.

I managed to get The 4GA out of the fuse box. It was pretty easy, just one bolt connecting it, 12MM socket.

Gonna goto jaycar tomorrow and get some 4GA longer one and ask em if they can crimp em too. (Hopefully they can) otherwise $70 for a crimping tool :)

Also going to replace the ground wire

Here is the lug..

My (+) wire. LOL so short..

Also here is my battery tray.. Yes very crap ey!? Dont ask me how it got like that, but when I got the car it was already like that straight from Japan.

Battery_Tray.jpg

If anyone know anyone selling that tray let me know

lug is easy. I have those here. how long does the +ve need to be and with what battery terminal on the end.

-ve terminal - 4awg - can make you one if you tell me what you need.

Uhh I went to jaycar and got some terminals and lugs. Rewired the wires and got the 4GA for neg and 4GA for pos.

Also modded the fuse box a bit so that the terminal actually sits to the horitzonally as oppose to the L bend.

Pretty easy, oh man stripping the 4GA with sissors/pliers lol so annoying. (No other tools lol)

I just need a new battery I think, old one is dead.. recharged and recharged and nothing... doesnt store charge.

get a delkor... and yeah, for larger sized wire, use a stencil knife :O

I'm getting a pulse one.

Yea I have a blade knife thingy but it was upstairs and was too lazy to go upstairs and get it LOL

Now waiting for that person who PM'ed me about the battery tray to reply to me, he said he has one in kograh which is close to me. Hurry up and reply!

After the battery tray i'm gonna rewire the amps and stuff..

    • Is anyone running these axles? R32, R33, R34 GTR front Axles. shafts itself rated 950hp. Suit all RB26 engines Croydon, Melbourne, Victoria Would be nice to pay half the cost of Driveshaft Shop Axles. I'm building an AWD S13 Coupe that is very low ride height (high cv angle) compared to stock R32. Has an RB30 with appx 600whp. Just looking for feedback. • Been a long time since r31 got some love, my brother dropped a shitbox ls1 crapadore in my lap to fix up.  Put a wiper motor in as the flooded one was no longer alive.  got windscreen wipers now. Time to clean respray and install back in the titanic  IMG_0505.mov

    • Thread bump, again! Although, no bad news this time. Posting for the sake of possible root cause. Basically, I rebuilt it (mostly stock), installed Haltech + sensors, had it running fine on new ECU.  Still not really understanding why it cracked pistons last time. Got to tuners, and while checking timing, noticed +-10deg of timing scatter while revving. Changed CAS, and it was rock solid. While not definitive, can't imagine seeing 20+ psi with that amount of scatter would be a good thing. Also glad I found something.   Bit more of a run down; Carried out a stock rebuild, a set of stock pistons, out of a spare bottom end. Everything stock apart from head studs and oil restrictors. (so I can pretend I didn't let the Nissan out, ha.) Armed with the measuring gear and FSM, set about doing overhaul. Oil restrictors as per oil control thread for a RB25, stock oil pump, drifting. Head drain/vent from rear of head, to passenger side of sump above oil level. Two dash 10 vent lines from drivers side of sump (unused atm) Hi octane style cam cover breather kit Splash covers over last 2 cam caps. Both breather lines from cam covers to vented to atmosphere catch can, not plumbed back into sump (wanted to see what it was actually breathing). Got it run in (did about a 1000km) no to low boost scenario, As I had questions over old ECU setup. Installed haltech +sensors for flex Retune on E85 (finding CAS Issue along the way), made 300rwkw at 20psi, out of wastegate. Did a drift day the next day (yes, it was a big weekend!) and was checking catch can throughout the day, ZERO blowby. I mean nothing. Lines from cam covers are not even wet. Done a bunch of street driving, spirited and catch can is still dry. Early days I guess, but pretty happy so far. Also now run 10w60, up from the 10w40 that I used to run. Oil pressure is significantly better, especially when hot (as you would expect)
