Hey All.. Got a problem I'm hoping to get some help on..

My Flat mate drive an R33 4 Door GTS-t and is having a problem with her Hi-Cas.. Basically after about 11k's or so.. the HICAS light comes on the dash display panel.. It's been to the mechanic several times, been 'fixed' several times, but to no avail...

Last night I was looking at an engine manual I downloaded from www.rb20det.com (before the comments come, yes I know it's a different engine) and it was saying somethign about HICAS not working properly if the power steering belt is not tight enough...

My question is.. Has anyone here had any problems with their HICAS? If so.. what was the soloution? Maybe something Will fix it..

The relays and sensors have all been checked, and the hicas computer replaced.. (so the mechanic said) ...so I would imagine that anything different to what has already been tried may work?

Any Feedback would be great..

Cheers

Speaking of HICAS!!!

Mine came on and put me into a gutter today - tore apart my passenger side suspension assembly.... ugly ugly stuff...

HOTR33 - do a search for HICAS problems or something like that - there's tonnes of links...

Ive had so many problems with mine - flicks the tail out when the light comes on etc....

friend had the same problem and it was because of fitting a aftermarket steering wheel on. the boss kit was standard, apparently u need a special boss kit designed for the hicas system. so far i only know of one place that has the proper one....Unique autosports but they are a very expensive bunch of people charging $150 or $200 (not sure) just for the boss kit !!!

If you fit an aftermarket steering wheel, you must fit a HICAS compatible BOSS and make sure it is aligned (fitted) correctly - otherwise the HICAS light will come on.

The HICAS system (AFAIK) isn't linked directly to the front steering system. Sensors on the steering column (plus a speed sensor) send info to the HICAS computer (located in the trunk), from there steering ajustment on the rear wheels is made by the HICAS system at the rear. Check to make sure all the connections are secure, there's no corrosion or anything like that...

Happens to me only on the motorway and always in the exact same position.

I can tell when it is going to come on right down to the centimetre.

Have won bets as to when it is going to come on. Spins a lot of people out.

But, i'm through winning bets, i'd like to know how to fix it.

And yes, it does have an aftermarket Steering wheel but it was on the car when it came from Japan so i don't know what Boss kit is being used.

Any help would be appreciated.

Turbo made 563rwkw on mainline hub dyno at around 24-25psi boost - Pump fuel. Will def make over 600kw on e85. Didn't bother as my e-MAP was through the roof with my setup sitting past the choke line. I have a cnc ported and fully built head on my 3.2. Turbine speed saw max of around 109k rpm. I'm running this on my R32 GTR, with AC, and the original power steering pump. The manifold clears the AC lines, ABS, and everything else. Although I had new AC lines because I just wanted new ones and I heat wrapped them as well. This will make more power on a slightly lower capacity motor with a higher PR. And I have since upgraded to a G45-1500. Have pics and videos if need be.  Absolutely nothing wrong with setup. Turbo is in perfect condition. No shaft play or oil leaks at all. All the work was professionally done. The transient response of this is fkn amazing. I cannot rave more about this turbo. If I wasn't chasing 4 figures, I would have kept it. $5000 NZ.
