I spent over 4h hours today watching someone trying to upgrade my immoboliser to an alarm just to fail. Does anyone know of a good place to do it for a V35? I am not going to name any names here, but I think that guy knows a thing or 2 about alarms, just maybe not for a V35.

The OEM one should of been removed and an ADR approved one fitted for compliance, what is fitted to start and what were you up grading to.

I get my AUTO WATCH alarm fited for $380. That guy spend 3hours analysis all the wires of the security and immoboliser, at last he successbully install a alarm unit and keep the key untouched.

What I got:

Untouched key, all funtions run as factory set.

Alarm system

windows sensers

A suprised funtion, when I click unlock bottom, the tail ligh will on for about 3 second, that is really cool as I seldom see what my car's tail light looks like.

As I understanding, He didn't upgrade the security level, he just put an AUTO Watch unit in between the factory security unit and control, so all the singal will go through the origional unit and then the AUTO Watch unit, then to the control unit. the senser and siren are link to the AUTO WATCH unit. In case if some thing wrong, either from factory code system or new senser, The siren will speak lond.

Pretty good.

My understanding is the OEM one is to be removed all together as it is not the best plus it does not comply with the ADR's, the one I have fitted activates the boot and door opening/locking as per original in one unit not separate to the key, but people fit the alarm as a separate unit to the key as they cant merge the two together.

It also self arms after a while but I have it set so it doesn't lock the doors, as I have said in other posts the electronics in these cars are not simple or for the faint hearted.

yep alarm upgrades are the go on these. last 350z I did (similar architecture) they had put an alarm over the OE item- very messy and it didnt work quite right and it was VERY erratic.

the OEM thing is a plug and go item anyway. fairly easy to ID and strip.

All I know it is a pain having to use the key and alarm separate as I had another one to day and it is dodgey.

Anything that will stop my wheels being taken off. So I was thinking shock sensors. Microvave sensors I think are also cheap to install. Would be cool to have sonic sensors in the front so it warns a car in front when it is parking and getting too close, but that will probably cost way too much.

are you in syd? if so, I know a very good guys can install alram for our car. He can disable the chips from the key to an individual, then you can get a copy of key for few bucks as spare. no way to spend $500 up for spare key from japan!!!

You mean he can also replicate the key so you can get a spare? Wouldn't mind that as recently my key stopped working. Replaced batteries, but still dead. Going to check out contacts today and clean it out.

parking sensors inthe front is easy. needs a switch to control them but thats it. to do them you need the car paint code and 3-4 hours of time.

as for security - do you want the key only or key and remote? I'll make a few suggestions based on that.

I got my key to work now, so I am happy with either. I have auto watch remote together with my key to disable the immoboliser.

I have to find out what I have fitted to my car, all in one boot, doors, self arming everything, I never use the origional key to open or lock the door, as I said I had to use a car with both fitted and it pissed me off.

What pisses me off more is you guys are paying good dollar and they are not even doing it right, this is ADR 82/00 which is "Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 82/00 – Engine Immobilisers) 2006"

People think complying cars is easy so have a read of this and this is only for the requirement to put in a basic Immobiliser.

amen to that. too many hacks make way too much of a mess of things. great for me , I get to fix them, bad for the customer as they still shop on price and know no different.

one that really spring to mind are the dealer fitted and manufacturer fitted (locally) alarms. the brant (nee subaru now) items I can find and remove in about 3-4 minutes due to the way they are done. they stop some people but not all. same goes with these cars (V35.) reason that you may have ended up with a key (for unlock) and a remote is they simply did not understand the car. these cars run one module that controls the ENTIRE car. fry it and it gets VERY expensive very quickly. some of the jobs I have seen from shops with ADR alarms shock me. (see below.)

Yep look at my case , the compliance place has f**ked my v35 and i havnt had it for nearly 6 months

It is stories like this that make me glad I decided to buy a car from a local dealer and pay a few thousand dollars extra and get to test drive it first and see that everything is working correctly.

I hope you get it all sorted in the end but does the saving nd waiting seem worth it now?

Well i drove the car to compliance, and i got the car at a top price with everything i wanted on it so yeah its still at the moment worth it

    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that 
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
