I've been trying to answer the same Qn for mine.... Given the mods and k's, my estimate would be low 20's/high teens.

It's a slow market - I am a member of Supraforums as well, and you should see the price drop in them recently!

Just my estimate...

It's only ever worth what someone's willing to pay, but given the strength of the yen recently.....

HOWEVER, if they really have stopped making them......???

Edited by rb26stagea

Well I was going to sell mine recently (but am not now) and apart from the stero and wheels my mod list was pretty simlar and I just fitted a nismo kit too. From the avatar yours is a series one also. And after looking around at other prices from J-Spec to cars already here I settled on $16500 to $17000 ish. My kms were slightly higher too. But the thing is these just aren't selling for what they were 12 months ago, I purchased mine pretty much stock for $19000 and have spent at least $6000 since so I was going to loose a lot, which is why I am now keeping it among other reasons.

The thing is (unfortunatley) you just don't make much more on the sale because of what you've spent on the car. You'd be better off pulling out the stereo, refitting the stock wheels, stock side mount cooler, stock brakes if you happen to have all these still that is. Rip out the safc, rsm, boost controller and throw on a bleed valve (and maybe turn the boost down a little, not really a good idea running 14psi on the stock turbo espically if your trying to sell it :) ). So basically just sell it with the clear indicators, exhaust and alarm and throw it up for around $14000 to $15000 and either keep all the stuff listed above for the next car or sell it all by itself and you will make more that way. I just don't see it selling for more than $17000 if your lucky. And even if they have stopped making the Stagea for good, remember these were the first series, there are the series 2's and the M35 above yours, so I doubt it will affect the price that much. There are already so many series 1's in the country.

But like rb26stagea said it also depends on what someone is willing to pay. If you can find someone that can appreciate the amount of time and money you have put into your pride and joy then they may be willing to pay more. A lot of people just don't seem to understand that they couldn't buy a stock car for "X" amount of money and get the same result as your car by only spending the difference in your asking price. More like it will cost them a lot more starting from scratch. Check out the forsale threads on some of the popular sites for a good example of this.... :(

sounds like a nice car, why sell ? for something different ? or to pay out a car loan ?

for something different, it isnt worth selling.... to reduce debt yes thats another matter.

I feel 17k is on the money. Might take up to half a year tho. So factor in $500 advertising costs, and be happy with just over 16k in your pocket after the sale (ppl always want a few hundred $$ off the price).

It's always hard.

the fact is, very few people will buy a car for what the owner thinks it's worth.

And "Everyone" wants a bargain.

your best bet it to sell it at the lower end price in stock form.

then sell all your goodies to the stock stag owners.

right this instant, there are 24 stags for sale on carsales around AUS.

Cheapest is 11.5K and the others are averaging $13K

if you return yours to stock and advertise for $12.5K it will probably sell.

fact is you probably have about $10K worth of mods on there (new price) so you could probably sell them all for a total of about $5K.

there you go.

made $17K.

there have been Stags for sale on these forums for $8K which hung around for ages.

and there is only a minority who want a stag.

to "generalise"... they are:

big

ugly

Almost ALWAYS auto

heavy

so you only have a very small market to sell to.

showed my missus one and she said "that is a massive volvo"

that's the general public view.

it's not a sports car, but has some power..

as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder...

and to like the way a stag looks, you're gunna need to find someone who is on their way to a rehab clinic.

bwahahaaha classic post ^^

they arnt all that bad, a practical "skyline" for a family.

they DO handle very very well with properly sorted suspension...............

no... they are not a skyline.

a skyline weighs 1350kg in manual R33 gtst form (most common skyline)

you need about 200rwkw to run deep in to the 13's.

a stag weighs what.. about 1700kg? 1660kg or something wasn't it?

it has the brakes of a non turbo R32

yes it has Attessa 4wd system.

but it's auto.

boring.

200rwkw might get you in to the 14's..

seriously. it should be used as a family hack and not even considered as a sports car in anyway, just because it has attessa and rb.

dude, time for you to try one out in a twisty section of road...... youd be very surprised. VERY suprised.

in the right hands, feeling good & confident, your 200awkw Stagea can rope in a 200rwkw Skyline. no arguments.

but no, I dont think anyone would consider a stagea to be a "sports car". perhaps a "sports wagon" tho....... its all in the eye of the beholder.

who needs manual anyway? manual FTL. oh, maybe thats just mr.nokneecaps me.

+1

I never considered the stagea to be a sports car

and neither do most of the peopl e on here

That is not why we own them.

But when you consider the sort of wagon the same money will buy you domestically?

....\fail.

fail

you want "manual" then add a shift kit and the control box, real hard "manual" shifts then, quicker than a manual, faster to put power to the ground then a manual..

but meh, some of your posts GTST are useful, some are just plain stirs.

well I guess in a Stag section it would be taken in a harsh manner.

but I answered the original question the best I could in my opinion.

small market, hard to sell, sell it cheap as a stocker, sell parts to make some money back.

For some odd reason, most people (myself included) want a car that hasn't got mods so I can do it myself...

yeh you get the car cheaper to start with, but the mods cost more money than if you had bought the car with the mods in the first place.

as for another wagon... I 'personally' much prefer an old liberty/legacy RS or GT wagon to a stag.

again.. just me.. let's not get all "then get lost to a liberty forum" now..

it has been my observation that almost ( and I stress almost ) any car you can think of SOMEONE has made it into what its not really meant to be. ie Magnas with massive wings and crazy body kits.

and the same applies to the Stagea I suppose. I think its more a cruiser than anything else , but you cant blame people trying to put a bit more ZING into it ( suspension mods, shift kits etc)

I think if you threw enough money at it you could get a stagea to " beast " status... but then again I think the vast majority are just happy with it as a cruiser .

yah, family wagon for me, with "some" skyline heritage (ie running/suspn parts)

love it, wouldnt have anything else

just stirring gtst. with the right thought proccesses and enough moolha, an automatic stagea can indeed be a weapon and a very fun car to drive. so cheap these days, so cheap. :domokun:

Autech 260RS ?

shortarse hey ! :domokun: go the non-kneecapers (oh thats just me, oh well, go me!)

anyways, a lot of ppl here in the stag section have as good an RS4 as a 260RS (in stock form). the gtr stageas stock put out, what, 210awkw? with some suspn tweaks such as Sydneykids complete kit, auto shift kit + cooler, highflow turbo + engine goodies, air induction and fuel pressure mods, and tune, 210awkw isnt that hard to reach. do the Pfc, injectors and a good turbo and 240awkw can be had, same sort of output for a autech gtr stagea midly mod'd.

you may tell that I luv my stagea :P my highly mod'd bike was insane, but the stagea is more of a pleasure to own, sort of..................... ;)

i would say to sell it as is, youd probably get anywhere between 15-18k....

strip it, and sell it stock you would get 12-14 maybe

and i love my stagea

i dont really miss my r32 gtst, only thing that i sort of miss, is a manual trans, but im getting over it.

stageas ftw.

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
