cosworth1971
I may be imagining but i took my heatshield off again to test my actuator and snapped a bolt taking the heatshield off,....so i left the shield of went for a drive and it seems to be boosting less? . 10 psi instead of 12-13 Maybe its all a big coincidence(<spelling) but ive heard people put washers or cut heatshield ?is that true? Is it safe to run without shield for a little bit?but wires and looms get quiet hot Im now running a unrestricted hose straight to actuator!, bleed valve i will throw out i think lol I cant imagine the actuator hitting it because the actuator diaphram only moves 15 mm or so. Im also happy with direct actuator hookup because it boost more gradual and fixed spiking alot anyone had simular experiences? sweetr33
at the end of the day its probably not going to be that, but i would put it back on, the heat shields were put in place for a reason, im a firm believer in heat soak and the ways it disrupts performance, i've vhanged to a hi mount gt35r setup but my ive heat wrapped my whole exhaust manifold, dump pipe, intake pipe that goes over engine and intake pipe off turbo, and got a turbo bag for the ex housing on turbo, minimising heat can have good effects on the cars performance... my 2 cents anyway Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/178816-std-heatshield-removed-and-less-boostis-it-safe-to-run-without/#findComment-3260864 Share on other sites
R33GOD
i got mine off and still made exceptionally good power. i think it would only affect the power if your going to run massive amounts of boost Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/178816-std-heatshield-removed-and-less-boostis-it-safe-to-run-without/#findComment-3261131 Share on other sites
r33cruiser
when i bought my line, it came without the heatshield. it works perfectly. even after 6 hours of intense driving with mates, it still works perfectly. it wont make much difference Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/178816-std-heatshield-removed-and-less-boostis-it-safe-to-run-without/#findComment-3261259 Share on other sites
(B1) MR_fanny
i took to mine with an angle grinder, not the actual shield but the bracket its bolted to, to make it fit with the new dump pipe. the difference in temp in the engine bay was noticable for me when it was off so i wacked it back on.
