Hi Guys,

after looking on the internet at lunch time my co-worker just showed me this! taken from sydney morning herald international section!.... MAN THIS SUCKS!! I ONLY EVER USE BP ULTIMATE 98 but even that doesn't sound that good anymore!!!

www.smh.com.au

The quality of Australia's fuel is the same as some Third World countries - and well behind world's-best practice - a leading European car maker has claimed.

And, because our fuel matches that used in "Africa, Tahiti and some parts of the Caribbean", our cars are less efficient and produce more ozone-depleting gases.

Volkswagen Australia's managing director, Peter Nochar, said Australia's use of outdated fuel meant the country was missing out on vehicles which lead the world in frugality and ultra-low emissions.

"Australia is so advanced in so many ways yet we lag behind the rest of the developed world with poor quality fuel," he said. "Australia has EU2 fuel, which puts it in the Third World category as far as we're concerned."

The Ultimate 98 fuel refined in Kwinana (WA) is one of the cleanest and best fuels produced in the world, the report you read would most likely be an average of all other regular unleaded fuels!!!

I think that a news report from an independant newspaper would be a little less biased than an article on BP's website.........

I'm sure that Shell's website says that Optimax is one of the best petrols in the world too.......

Standard petrol in Japan has an octane rating of at least 99 RON....That's why we have to use the high grade stuff. I'm sure that most other countries follow Japan's lead & use the better petrol as standard.

I have to agree with ya on that one! i don't think a petrol company is going to put themselves down. They just will tell you the facts that make them sound good not the ones that are the truth like from the Sydney Morning Herald. However they do say that we have some of the cheapest petrol in the world, perhaps this could be why... because we have the worst petrol in the world..... Man i feel like one of those conspiracy theorists!

IN YOUR FACE PETROL COMPANIES :shake:

( i have always wanted to do that! )

Fair enough, however I don't believe some of the stuff in the papers nowadays as they are sometimes as bad as the muck-racking shows half the time (ie. A Current Affair, 60 minutes)

But if you did actually go to the BP site, it does state that BP Ultimate meets strict greenhouse guidelines which are a worldwide standard and is the only fuel in Australia to do so. So basically it is clean and of decent octane levels!!

Daniel

i'm with DanielGTST on this. WA has better fuel than the rest of Australia, lucky for us bad for you guys. WA has very strict regulations for the fuel and emissions caused by it. Thats why all WA petrol is made in the Kwinana refinery to the boutique standards we have. We don't get Shell Optimax here as it doesn't meet the guildines. This is something the news articale should of pointed out if it was thourough.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
