Hey forum whats up need you guy's help again. Let me explain I was reading in the forum where the minimum ron you should put in your car is 95, but where I live the max we have is 91:rant:!!! I kno that sucks right so I wanted to know. If it would be all right to add a bottle of octane booster to my tank everytime I full up to compensate for the sh*&&y fuel?

hey man,

You'd seriously be risking it i think, with that high boost and low octane,

I'd get it tuned down for 91 and drop the boost maybe

Because if you've got it as an import from Japan, it'll most probably be tuned to 98 or higher

Well I got it stock as a rock and been on 91 octane for a year now the boost has been up to 10 psi for about that long as well and have not had any issues thus far just wanted to take precautions as i want my ride to last but want it to perform as well.

where the hell do you live???

The Bahamas man! Whats also so funny is that gas is like 5 dollars a gallon and thats the type sh&% they have my car running on.

are there many skylines there??

Yea there a few with basic mods fmic, full exhaust, pod maybe a couple with turbo upgrades but not many.

get the neo tuned to run on 91. it will mean a bit less timing, but still same boost and safer power. hope they have tuners there lol

Thats another prob if there are any tuners I don't know or have heard of any. Yea it sux I know need help with that too.

who tuned your neo before? cause you'd want to have it tuned asap to run on 91 to pro long the life of your engine.

Tuned!!!!! Ha it was never tuned just installed. I can't even find a dyno over here and since I have been apart of this forum I have learned alot bout the skyline and it upsets me so, that I cant build a decent one and get it to its full potential cause there is no place to tune. I see these other skylines around here with the black smoke spewing out of their exhaust and I kno its because they aren't tunned properly. There thinkin that there car is the fastest thing on the island because they upgraded their turbo, exhaust, air filter and intercooler not knowin that an aftermarket ecu with a tune would give them heaps more. I am here learnin and reading up on mine and want so badly to get the most out of it but know that I cant because there is no place to tune and I don't have the know how or the tools to do it.So I guess Ill just have to mod within limits of the stock ecu!!!!!!!! THAT BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
