Went for a quick squirt tonight. Noticed there are so many cops around... i actually saw 2 cop cars in the space of 5 mins, on opposite sides of the road that had pulled people over. Now along with a few people's theories, of course its coming up to the end of the financial year - so all cops will be out in force getting $xx m dollars or whatever to meet the ridiculous target the Bracks Government has set for them.

In the last couple of weeks, the amount of pullovers i've driven past is ridiculous. So anyway, my advice is to drive pretty sedately guys/gals and avoid any chance of getting pulled over till the end of June at least.

Why help the government meet their ****ed up revenue targets to keep the budget in surplus?? If they don't meet the targets, then they seriously will have to consider more legitimate ways of earning state revenue than traffic infringements. If Bracks calls this "Governing" then he has another thing coming.

You would think they would have real crimes to police but obviously not, as they don't make the government any money :D

p.s. for those out east.. High st and Sumerhill Road near Ashburton there is a new camera which has sprouted over the weekend. i'm not sure whether its a camera light, or fixed speed camera.. but its there and its menacing so watch out - i wouldn't be taking the risk that its not yet another revenue cam.

back on ****ing topic.

and yes i agree... i seen 2 on the way and 4 on the way back from work.

one tailed me in josies soarer today on the way to work but it looked like he had someone in the back and they pulled into the cop shop... i reckon they noted down the rego and she will probably get an EPA notice or something cause her car is louder than most cars ive been around.

yer, EPA is part of it .. i have one pending and heaps of other people have got EPA's or canaries lately. I think they are using that to supplement their lack of revenue through speeding :P My thoughts are that the EPA is just an extra they stick on to bump up to 3 possible defects to get you a major.

Victoria and its current system of road penalties is totally screwed if you ask me - soon old grannies will be losing their license or getting up for the EPA (actually that is a funny one)

Damn!!!!! I'm getting a bit worried. The closest thing I've encountered to cop action is passing a few, and being followed a bit. Never been pulled over or canaried/EPAed.

I'm pretty worried too, I've got a BOV and with the 400R front makes my car looks pretty damn low. I guess its only a matter of time.

I'm actually too scared to speed so I doubt they'll get me on that.

I know they've got a job to do but honestly If we were dangerous criminals I doubt we'd drive around in attention getting cars such as imports.

Bacon? Yes please gordo!

I think I may have got done up here on the weekend.... was doing about 130 (in 110 zone) with a skyline next to me when a big flash went off. I didnt see a cop car, or any car beside the road, so im just praying it was something else.

Then the next day, a police 4x4 driving slow along the side of the freeway, with its indicator on looking like it was just pulling onto the freeway.... but really it had a cam attached to the front. Thats borderline entrapment if you ask me...

So its not just the Vics revenue raising, its national, and other than that its plain stupid.... Its like a police nation these days...

I was driving mine for 6 months no probs lowered, the works, then some dick**** cop decided he was going to do my car over, so i got the major defect, and EPA in one the other week (mind you i wasn't driving it)

Apparently the crime rate is the lowest for a long time, so if you ask me, these days cops are just glorified tax collectors. If i have the misfortune of getting pulled over I'm going to grill his ass and how he feels being royally ****ed up the ass to collect government revenue rather than actually doing what he joined the police force to do - and that is fight real crime.

Thats the alternative :P which they will no doubt try. But there is only so far they can go until they may as well ban people from driving and eventually even old ladies will be losing their license. Once it gets to that level its pretty unsustainable. If the goal (as it is) is making $X from traffic infrigements rather than saving X amount of lives its rather ****ed up. I mean they don't even try to hide the fact these days. They should be saving lives and preventing accidents which comes through increased driver training, improved signage, and better roads. All of these of course cost them money rather than make them money so they take the easy option. Its dispicable and makes me so angry, its basically taking away our rights as drivers. Sure, speeding is not safe, but to say that 3km over the limit should cost you $165 or whatever it is pretty attrocious.

The only solution is to next election mount a campaign to throw Bracks out and petition hard that if the current situation continues many thousands of drivers will be refusing to vote for them on this one issue. When it comes down to it, this is the only thing that might work.

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
