Hey peoples. Hoping to get some handy info here. I am very close to purchasing a gt3040 (as my stock job let go up the mountain last weekend) and have heard from a couple of people that the internally gated version has some boost control issues caused by the wastegate being too small. Now I have read a few people here have this turbo. Do any of you have the internal gate version, and if so, is compressor surge an issue? I would prefer to avoid the expense of going external gate, as it is hard to find a low mount external gate setup.

cheers for any info here guys

sweet as. I'm going to see Matt at Predator Motor Sport tomorrow, will run the 3076 and 3082 past him and see what the go is. Both same price pretty much, guess one is just gonna have a few hundred more RPM of lag.

cheers

don't forget ur cheque book :whistling:

Yeah to an extent

the money that this exact conversions has cost me over the last 2 months takes quite an edge off the dream

:)

Yeah I know that feeling, we all burn copious amounts of money on cars but in turn it makes us happy

As im sure you are atm, right?

Err no, In fact I could not be less happy with the car if I tried

In the words of Mr Burns I would be happier with the dollar

or the 10000 as the case may be

There's spending copious amounts on our cars, and then there's being ripped off. $10k to fit an already supplied turbo and dump and some tuning is the latter. Also charging $6000 for intercooler PIPING would be the latter. $15K from stock to 300rwkw with a forged bottom end, suspension etc. is what I call fair.

They have done much research on the 30/40 IW and based on a 2.5L engine they should not suffer boost creep or comp surge. You can have the GT3076R done with the Skyline housings now for $2400 and they are rated at a good solid 500hp.

Also be careful what is quote for the GT3076 and GT3071's because they come with optional exhaust housings. The 3076 can range in price from $1800 - 2200 depending on what option you take. And no option is a bolt on one. The 3071 is sold housing free so it's price is only around the $1200 mark. Then add your housing to that.

hey guys

thanks for all your input. i have ordered the GT3076, and its costing $1900 delivered, which I believe to be quite a good price. if all goes to plan i will be recommending the guys at Predator Motor sport for sure. always makes one feel better walking into a showroom and seeing a fully bombed skyline sittin there with all the right gear. makes me wonder what i would do with 40K hahaha

will post updated info once i get it put in and throw it on the dyno :nyaanyaa:

I guess I can relate also Andy, as my car has not moved in about 8 weeks, for nothing less than a drive around the block...

But its the most enjoyable drive around the block one could have :P

Yeah

Well I guess every dream has its price...

Mine comes true on the 18th of September when I get to met Jenifer Hawkins... :nyaanyaa:

Yeah great point, workshops with no show car (tax deduction) are questionable...

I like that Mark from Godzilla runs a 9 second GTR, tells me he knows a thing or two about drag racing...

The boys at Mercury have produced and owner a bunch of 250+ rwkw track spec 200Sx's, tell me they know their SR20's...

So on and so forth...

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
