looking to buy some new rims and found that my r33 s2 NON TURBO gts-4 uses 4 stud rims and turbo models use 5 stud..is this correct?

well ive been searching around and not easy to find 4 stud rims that use 235/45/17 tyres and abit frustrated. there r 17'' 4 stud rims but uses 205/40/17 from 4cly cars etc and seem abit small for me and less grip? so wondering does any1 around here have a set of 17'' 4stud rims that may fit 235/40/17 on onto my r33 :( or close 2 it that will sell?

thanks for any help

I think you'll have a better chance of finding nice/good 4 stud rims on nissansilvia.com because they've got more cars which use 4 studs (S13's, 180sx etc).

And it's pretty hard to find nice 4 stud wheels. Good luck with your search.

the wheel is 17 inches in diametre, is 9 inches wide, and has an offset of +32

if you want the definition of offset, use google... I know what it is, but cant really explain it

Oh one more thing. Do your research with offsets before purchasing wheels. Usually the lower the offset, the more the wheels would stick out of your guards. I think just learn abit more about wheels in general and you'll understand what offsets you want/need.

thanks, atm im using 235/45/17 tyres and need advice on what size rim is suitable. 17x8? 17x9?

also i am unsure of what my stud pattern is. Since being a nonturbo s2r33 its a 4stud and i THINK i read somewhere its 4x114.3? not sure

some1 correct me lol

Yes, you are correct! Skyline 'PCD' or stud pattern is 4x114.3 or 5x114.3, I'm not sure of the offset values for the 32's or 33's but I assume they would be simlar to the 31, however you'll have to allow for brake caliper clearance and clearance of the strut. They are the main issues when trying to find 4x114.3 rims.

Like the others have said, it is hard to find that style rims. Workout what offset is ideal (for the R31 its +10 to +30 7 to 9" rims)

Depending on what sizes you want, you'll have to work it out. Anything about +35 is going to give you issues clearing the struts.

The offset of a wheel is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the true centerline of the rim. The offset can be one of three types.

Zero Offset

The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.

Positive

The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars. A positive offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in front of the true centerline of the rim / tyre assembly. This in effect brings the tyre further into the tyre well.

Negative

The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centerline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically a negative offset. a negative offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This will cause the tire to stick out away from the vehicle.

Like others have said nissansilvia & other silvia or Toyota sites are good, as they share the same stud patterns. if you have a good amount of money to spend you could always look at importing something from japan, as there are some amazing rims at decent prices.

hmmm 4 stud rims arn't that hard to find...i mean you can get 4 stud Nismo LM4's i think thats waht they're called and works meisters...in 17 inches or so the question is are u wiling to pay the price :nyaanyaa: but yeah go on nissan silvia there is some one there selling rims especially 4 studd ones for cheap well reasonable prices  hope that helps

Cheers

Yeah, it's not all that difficult to find 4 stud rims. It's just hard finding ones with good offsets and a good/affordable price.

Another thing to consider is possibly converting ur 4 stud to 5 stud. Its a worthwhile investment and will open up a whole lot of possibilities in terms of wheel choices. 4 stud wheels are out there but to find a set with the right offsets and at an affordable price is gonna be pretty hard.

Yeah it cost about $1000 for the parts and I think it was installation as well? for the 5stud and bigger brakes. I think it'll be a good upgrade if you can't find any good rims. Not only do you get 5 studs, but you also get bigger/better brakes.

o oright ill think about that but atm i got another question lol, so 235/45 tyres would fit on both 17x8 and 17x9 rims, since i have a gts-4, if i had 17x8 rims on the front and 17x9 BUT i put 235/45 tyres on ALL the rims would that still affect my ATTESSA????

would 17x7 rims rim seem abit umm..thin?? on an r33 lol

    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
