Hey all,

Getting my clutch changed soon and at the same time getting the Engine Rear Main Seal, front main gear box seal and crank spigot bush changed.

If i'm changing the front main engine seal does that also mean i will need to change engine oil at the same time?

If so i will supply the mechanic doing it with the oil i wish to use.

Just didn't know if the engine oil will need to be dropped to change this seal.

Cheers

You would have to drop the oil before taking the oil seals off otherwise it would get very messy. New seals, may aswell put new oil in unless u have changed it in the last week and not driven much. They r a main oil seal, keeps oil in the engine, no seal, no oil.

umm no actually you can change the oil seal without dropping the oil, it is well above the oil level in the sump.

Do you have a problem with the gearbox front oil seal? I haven't seen one of them leak, so probably just leave it alone

yeah its a great idea to do the engine rear seal but the gearbxo front seal isn't worth the effort, it will be fine :)

but do change the trust bearing while you are in there, they get really noisey
