I also watch downloaded material via my screen with surpurb quality. :)

So as you can see there are stories for and against both technoligys.

Im sure either way what ever you choose you will be happy as you will have made a big upgrade from your old box. :P

u sure about that col? (yer, im not suprised you editted .. . )

i dont know too many plasmas that do 1080 .. . . and the ones that do are hella expensive

http://www.cnet.com/4520-7874_1-5137915-1.html

my 50" does wxga and is crystal clear, not too many plasmas even do that

and the fact that plasmas are predominantly lower res than equivalent lcds dont make em that flash for pc monitors

Edited by Spook's_Skyline

I was thinking of two different things there spook, hence the edit...

But yeah the lcd can have a higher res, but they cost a lot more.

Like a 1366x768 plazma 50" would rrp round the $3499 in Samsung

their same 1366x768 50" LCD rrp's round the $3699 mark in Samsung

that said

their 1920x1080 50" LCD rrp's round the $5999 mark in Samsung

So i guess you get what you pay for... Yes 1080 is the best on the market today but is it worth the money, well only a question the buyer can answer.

Yup my brother has the 60" version of what col has by the sounds of it, I was all keen to rip piss through him for getting rear projection, but admittedly it's pretty awesome. Hats off to newer technology and 1080 :)

does your plasma support it though?

or is the 1080 signal just being downsampled to HD>?

another thing to consider about plasmas, is they use an extremely large amount of power

significantly more than an equivalently sized lcd

I've recently purchased sony x series 46inch lcd, it was voted lcd of the year and now i know why!!

It has full 1080p resolution which will be perfect with the ps3. A little on the pricey side but well worth it! Try JB hi fi.

zomg sounds like exactly the same one as I got, the KDL46X2000. I could not be happier with it :)

I would recommend Plasma, Better colour, solid black not a washed out black around the edges, also the Plasma tv's have a much higher contrast ration of 10000:1 to 15000:1

But if you want a LCD i would go for any of the new XD Samsung tv's

  • 2 weeks later...

Plasma - for watching TV, Sport and movies ( screen size is best at 42" and above)

LCD - best for high res viewing ie. pc input or media center (also ps3)

there is a samsung model that is 1080p for just over 3k and is a 40"

panasonic have some 1080p plasmas coming out but are very expensive. 50"= $5499 rrp 58"=$9999

Thank you guys

Ended up going with the LCD option, a 47 inch Toshiba, with full 1080dpi, for 3.6k, and also a ps3. Haven't ventured outdoors much over the weekend, but it's worth it, as I have gained the title of heavy weight champion of the world on fight night 3.

Now getting some money together to upgrade my turbo, and buy a motorbike. I am sure I will post up another thread asking for advice when I get some cash, which is late next week I think.

Heh, I did when I first got it, and my mate kicked my ass for about six fights in a row. I think that was the main force behind spending the rest of the weekend sitting on there, so I am ready for him when he comes back. I don't take losing very well. Probably the reason why I am planning on upgrading the turbo as well.

    • A work around is to install the R35 card style AFM/MAF on the cold side of the intercooler piping and the BOV on the hot side piping. Works well, also you can combat the revs dropping by adding a bit more ignition timing on the idle ignition timing table to slow the rate of RPM drop.
    • Understood. If you dont have a ridiculous limit,  Tune, T's and P's are in check, and arent bashing it all the time and doing the due deligence for maintenance(inc oil analysis) then its pretty safe. 100% agree, let your right food control it to some extent.
    • So these external kits with the machined block for remote solenoid mount will only work on a NEO head and RB30 or RB26 bottom end   For an R33 head on a 26 bottom end the remote vct kit is to resolve RB26 manifold adaptor plates etc  IF you try to use the remote VCT on an RB30 or RB26 bottom end with an R33 head then  you can starve the cam journal??? I have one of these kits from bits I had years ago before plans changed  I don't understand how that tracks with this video   https://youtu.be/RuPiI22Mplk?feature=shared   This looks like I can run the v termite vct kit to feed the VCT on an R33 head on an RB26 bottom end?!?!?   Lol.... don't v have these problems on RB20s
    • Yeah i know that MAF is no no for this type of BoV. The engine has no BoV and "hose/pipes" ..it was all deleted (or probably it was not even on the engine when it was bought  ) It does that "sutututu" noise which i kinda do not want(atmospheric is better IMO...but standalone ECU)  What are the cons of running without blow off on stock RB25DET NEO. It running 5-7 PSI max (it has boost controller)   EDIT: and can Nistune be "tuned" to know there is no BoV to i dont know "know" and be better for a car? I read so many info about no BoV. One guy saying it is bad and hurting the turbo/engine/car and other that it does not...
    • Yeah. OK. I'll say the same thing I say to everyone. You do not have to use 100% throttle all the time.
