Anyone interested in being a volenteers on the day? We will definately ned help and any would be kindly appreciated!!!!

Whats involved? I mean will you get enough time to volunteer and take part at the same time?

Hey Cejay

Hmm not sure if could enter and volenteer as most volenteers will be on the back track and we need them out there as long as the cars are running around the track :worship: So could make it difficult...I prefer people that are not driving for back track volenteers

But there is the bbq and I might need one more volenteer for the skid pan :(

Saturday I think most people will be making there way down to accomodation so should be skylines rocking up through out the day...I know that they will be festivities on that night tho...more then likely dinner at a pub in town and some drink after..

These sorts of events are the best social gathering and its excellent cause you are bound to make a new friends and can finally put face to the forum names lol!!!! :D

I didn't ask before because I already have a CAMS licence, but do you need a CAMS licence for this event?

Also for the record...

16. Mark LadyBytes (R32 GT-R or R32 GTS-T) - PAID

is

16. Mark Tuk Tuk (R32 GT-R or R32 GTS-T) - PAID

Stupid question...

Im guessing that entrants will require a helmet for this event?

it'll be pretty much like at wakefield (im guessing). long sleeve cotton top, jeans, enclosed shoes and yes, a helmet (can borrow mine if it fits).... correct me if im wrong. and you'd better take me for a lap or 2! i've just checked, you can take passengers with you...

you had also better hope that you dont need a CAMS licence for this day. i dont think you'll get one before then if you need one....

Well,

I probably wont be taking part now... Just received the entry form and apparently to take part you need an AASA licence (whatever that is).

How do I get one of those?

Edited by Bullet32

look in the nsw thread, licenses look like they are being sorted out on the day perhaps, now off to buy a helmet  lol ah well. Would of been better if this info was in the first post though unless I missed it too.

CAMS will usually fax you a temp licence while your real one is being processed, but they have to receive your application first LOL

Most clubs (i.e. SAU) can take CAMS payment and completed CAMS form on the day, but it helps the club a lot of you download and fill out the form before you get there.

Guys,

http://australianautosportalliance.com/aas...9&Itemid=45

club racing licence is the one

Please goto the above link, print and download and bring $50.00 for the licence. this lasts a year and you are not required to be a member of a car club.

This licence lasts a year, and can be used at other Texi's (if we do them  ) and Wakefield Park also

Once again, sorry for the confusion everyoneand lets hope that this day is a great day and we can all learn and grow for the next rounds ;)

Cheers,

Chris

I highly recommend paying the extra for a L2S so you can participate at other events such as SDMA Hillclimb and other supersprints etc being held by Nissan Sports Car Club etc

It's around $88 for a L2S (Speed) and well worth it - its even enough to do State Round Hill Climbs. No medicals, no minimum races required, no tests and uses same application form as L2NS (Level 2 Non Speed)

see form

http://www.cams.com.au/downloads/paperform...Application.pdf

Why limit yourself to a non-speed licence if you're going to the trouble?

Bullet - yes, correct mate, and sorry again for all the confusion

Stinky Poo - In a way yes, however the AASA licence is only for AASa events.

As Michelle said, the best licence to get is the CAMS L2S - allows for more and wider range of events apart from grid racing

The $50.00 AASA is perfect if you hardly do much else, such as the texikhana's, wakefield days etc

Cheers,

Chris

I've already got a L2NS license and I've had it for just over half a year. All I goto are drift events, which only require L2NS.

I was considering the L2S license for a bit extra but I figured I would never use it, and so far never had the need to. I can't image my car going well for hill climbs which is pretty much the only event in Canberra. Even drifting, my car isn't properly set up for.... yet.... But building the car up gradually gives a heaps better feel of what changes actually make a difference in what way.

I just wanted to know if the L2NS license was sufficient to participate. I took me ages to actually receive the CAMS license book initially (I was constantly relying on faxed temp letters) and I'm not sure how long the process would take for an upgrade.

Okay, I'm a sucker for timed speed events LOL

Peeps if you're not likely to get involved in other types of events then the L2NS is enough.

If you are considering some "other club" activities down the track with the likes of supersprints at Wakefield, a Wakie licence alone isn't enough to participate in these events because they are timed. There are a few different clubs who hold these timed speed events at Wakefield... and because you are already a member of a CAMS affiliated club (SAU) you can participate at most of these with the L2S licence.

If you get a L2S you can also participate with Nissan Sports Car Club at Wakie, Eastern Creek, Oran Park etc and Thornleigh Car Club also have some interesting events (some at Wakie).

If you are thinking about joining me at the SDMA Hillclimb in the near future, then you will need L2S

You make your own mind up, heres the differences

Level 2 Non Speed (2NS) licence

+ motorkhana and khanacross events up to International level

+ observed section trials

+ touring road events which contain no closed road sections and no non-race speed sub-events

+ touring assemblies and non-timed road events

+ drifting events

Level 2 Speed (2S) licence

includes 2NS plus

+ single and multi-car non-race speed events up to International level

'Non-race speed events' include hillclimbs, autocross, single car and multi-car sprints and regularity trials

+ regularity trials up to National Championship

+ touring road events, including non-race speed sub-events, but not including closed road sections, up to International level

CAMS have improved their turnaround times for licences, however they do say the following

NOTES

+ First time applicants are encouraged to apply for their Level 2 licence directly with their car club in order to gain the instant benefit of a temporary 30-day licence endorsed by the club. This allows the licence holder to compete immediately whilst CAMS processes their licence application.

    • Yeah it is always worth testing and balancing actuators out of the box, just set the pressure regulator on a compressor very low (eg 5 psi) and increase it slowly to see when they both move.....unfortunately while you may be able to adjust the length of the actuator rod to minimise any difference, the actual pressure they move from is not adjustable so you need a well matched pair. And yes, the VCAM is probably contributing; the earlier in the rev range they come on boost and the slower the revs build (I think your demo was in 5th), the more you notice it.  Driving at WOT through 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc you will probably never hear it as any shuffling starts and is over super quickly
    • oh they were with that motor, you need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (don't have to, but it does make it easier)
    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
