Hey everyone on SAU :P

I just purchased a GTR R32 and found myself with those little annoying problems of getting it registered into my name. Luckly they are rather little. Basically if you have read my post in 'i can lend' thread Bluey started up then you will know what i need. Basically I need a stock Exhaust (that or stock suspension) as the muffler is too low (9cm) when the car is under full load (4 people sitting in it) so either need stock suspension to raise it a few cm (as it looks like it has lower springs) or the exhaust that will fit more closer to the body. Second is the more important but which is that i require a r32 GTR bonnet as my current is CF and the RTA havent made a rule of whether they are generally safe so a RTA engineer has to take a look at it and make a ruling themselves. I'm willing to pay for the 'rent' aswell.

So I anyone has one or two of those give me a PM and go from there. I haven't had chance at taking pictures, but once i start driving it around you will see it (ITS GREEN!! O.o)

Thanks for reading.

I though that to as if that was case then they could never defect you for ride height if it was at 10.5cm with only you in your car, but 9cm IF you had a full passangered car. I have to look into that furtherly so if anyone has a definate ruling on that please let us know :P Also would it be different in NSW then in ACT?

Looks like I'll be buying some stock springs so I can get it registered as it doesn't seem like anyone has any to borrow. So just need to ask a question. If someone has a GTR r32 which still have its stock springs on it, can you please measure the distance between the top of the rear guard and the centre wheel hub. I'm trying to figure out if buying stocks will push it up atleast another 2cm as that will get it past RTA even with 4 guys in car.

Thanks!

If you have coil overs [and you must to get it low], then just get someone to wind the adjustment up on the locking rings. I'd reckon you'd have plenty there to use.

If you have the 'C' spanners you could do it yourself.

It's got lower king springs on it or something, but I got some stock springs and going to put them on. Does anyone in ACT want to get rid of their stock wheels?

They gave me a sheet about lowering a car, and it has to be above 10cm under a load of 63kg per seat?? Wouldnt know how they got that figure??

Thanks for the replys

Would anyone know if r33 GTST wheels (stock) will fit my R32 GTR properly to get it over the Pits. I'm not sure about the offset or the it fouling the breaks. Also will the RTA have a go at my wheels if there is a spacer on it (as i seem to remember to the offset is less on GTST wheels then on GTR wheels.)

CHEERS!!

The problem will be if you use bolt on spacers that are shorter than your wheel studs then you will most likely have to grind the studs down to make them fit and thats illegal, however if you get spacers that are wide enough that you wont need to grind your studs down they will probably increase your wheel track to much and they'll fail you on that... Youre better off finding a set of standard GTR wheels if you can.

Spacers arent a good idea anyway.

Thanks for the advice Bullet32. I've found a set of GTR standards and waiting for PM reply. I just want it on the road as soon as possible as having it sitting in my garage looking pretty isnt really what a GTR was built to do.

Cheers :)

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
