Folks,

I turned on the r33 after a week last night and after switching the headlights on, the right one went off immediately. No bang etc, just turned off. So this morning I take out the globe from the left side and plug it to the right and still no light.

So I plug it back to the left side and... now this one's stopped working as well! I didnt touch the globe heads with my hands etc, and cant figure out now if its the globes or some other issue. To be sure I also tried another used pair of globes I have. ( They've been in a plastic case)

I bought a light tester for $2 and put the +ve side into the light socket and the -ve alligator clip onto the chasis (point where the sturt brace is bolted onto). Is that point grounded, because the tester wouldnt turn on as well.

Anything else I should be checking before running off to the auto-elec? Anyway I can diagonise what's wrong?

Any help appreciated guys. Thanks,

Not sure about 33's but for the 32's, the switch would be the cause of the problem you're experiencing. Try flicking the switch when it doesn't work. Flick the side of the switch. Actually flick it with your finger incase you thought I was talking about flicking it on

If it gets the light going then it's the switch that is the problem. There's a tutorial on how to solve this problem somewhere on sau.com

may be... not sure but

i changed my battery about a month ago..

and about a week later my right side head lights are just gone.. no bang or nothing.

i took out the bulb and the filament is still connected. means not the bulb making trouble. something else..

i drove like that about few days... and one day i was try to lock my car up. and the alarm goes off!!! it wasnt loud.

it was the siren from the back up battery of alarm. the back up siren goes off when battery is disconnected with out turn that off.

so it means battery has disconnected for some reason. i disconnected the alarm battery and try to jump start. nothing happens..

i left the car there few hours. and surprise~ battery gain his strength! i didnt think about this issue after that.

this happened again next day. this time couldnt start the car about 2 days... i thought the battery gone dead...

.. i disconnected the red line from the amplifier... its connected to fuse box. and suddenly car had been recovered...weird..

i put that red line to postive side.. and bi~~~g sparks attacted me.. and car went dead again..

and i tried to disconnect the battery this time

put the speners onto postive side and bigger spark attacted me!!!

after that everything came back to normal..

i went to auto electrician and he discovered that my postive side makes heat.. it was actually warm on that side.

he changed postive side connection to new wires and the light came back to alive.

after that everything goes smoothly~..

put your finger under or on the postive connection on battery

if its warm or hot that might be the problem...

or go to the auto electrician to have a look at it.

your case might be the fuse but have a check!

turn your ignition off when you check

cheers

paul

its ur fuse mate

its in the boot. back ones yellow 20a's the closest one to u is the right headlight the other is the left.

good way to check is to put the highbeams on... if they dont work then usually the fuse has gone

This should've been the first thing I would suggest to check :(

Hey guys, I came here looking for an answer to this exact same problem.

I took out my headlights to put in other DOT compliant headlights (Honda Accord) since thats the deal here in Canada. I've gone to put my stock ones back in since they illuminate much better, and to my surprise the projector lamp in my stock headlight doesn't work. The high beam lamp works, but the projector doesn't. There is power coming through both connectors (the ones leading to ground/red wire, and the ones leading to ground/green wire), I tested it with a voltmeter.

I think I'm suffering the exact same thing.

still clueless.. guess its the auto electrician this weekend then. sigh. There is power coming out of the headlight leads just no bloody light when you plug an old/new globe in! any help apppreciated that might save me a good $50

haha it must be the wet weather or something i had the same issue, fixed it to

if you have alook the light assesmbly pulls apart into about 3-4 different sections, if you don't have a meter to test the voltages just give the terminals a good clean. failing that give the engine bay fuse box a rattle with the lights on and see what happens.

FIY there is only one connection in between the headlight assby and the fuse box, its located on the + side of the battery almost in the body work of the car if you put your ear next to it you will hear it click on and off.

good luck dude.

    • Really, anyone modifying a car isn't being financially smart. We're doing it for the things we love. And honestly, a high revving, light, NA car is actually pretty darn fun. I used to have a Swift Sport, and I miss that thing as a daily, and yes, doing something like some intake and exhaust stuff would have made minimal gains, but would have bought an even bigger smile

    • Yeah, playing with naturally aspirated is not smart bang for your buck power wise, but then I've never been known for being smart when it comes to cars and modifications
    • I mean from V8 world there are gains to be made in intakes and such over stock items, but definitely only if you tune them. We're talking about I dunno, 10kw here and there on a 300KW v8, gains made by tuning in the 0.2 AFR that it changes so YES but also no you won't notice it other than the sound. Duct the air as mentioned 750,000 times and you will notice happier IAT's which definitely make a difference N/A. I mean my unsubstantiated guess is you'd go from 140kw with everything stock (after cams) to 145kw with everything and a tune :p
    • I decided to "spend baby spend", and "risk it for the biscuit" 2 Orders were made buying parts that I "don't really need but really really want" totalling $2.5k AUD 1: In stock items (intake plenum and throttle body) 2: The airbox thingie, with no real ETA for them getting more stock, so patience will be required
