I run toluene whenever I know im gonna drive my car hard; ie cruises etc. I use ~15% mix. Makes a good deal of difference, however for me its just as an extra measure of protection against detonation. Every little bit helps!

I'd rather use Toluene than a Octane Booster cos toluene is the real deal, doesnt coat ur plugs and leave deposits in your combustion chamber, and I know it works. Ive read _some_ octane boosters just "change" the sound of detonation (ie modify the flame front), so you cant hear it... Im not takin risks with that, true or not.

F1 cars used Toluene (albeit at a much higher conc tho). Cant go wrong there... =)

You can get VP Racing fuels from Hume Performance in Liverpool, that was the closest to me its the only place i payed any attention to.

@ close to $4 per litre it may be legal, but expensive.

When you say 'and its legal' i appreciate that you shouldnt use toluene on the road, but is it still illegal to be using on the track???

Surely if cats can be removed , and drag cars can run blah, blah, blah, i can use some toluene in my tank at the track?

Is Avgas the same as Toluene? Where is Efl turbo max readily available (like Autobarn or shell for guys up in QLD).

YRL - I take it you don't run a little Toluene each tank anymore?

Autobarn Stones Corner has Methyl Benzine for $45 for 20L Brisbane people

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
