candy33
My cars getting a make over and i don't know what to do. I got hold of a genuine Gtr rear wing (for free) and don't know if i should use this or keep my drift wing. The finish of the gtr wing is much better, with no ripples and has all the seals and stuff. While the drift wing is just screwed on and sumtimes holds water underneath and the fit isn't anything flash either. Its going on a candy apple red R33 with Gtr rear guards and M-sports rear bar. all opinions and reasons would be appreciated. SUR33L
I personally would go the drift wing, i love the look of all skylines without wings. Then again, i wasn't sure about the drift wing either, so i bogged up the boot lid - love it... there are plenty of people who don't like this look though... candy33
Thanks for your opinion mate. I love how both wings look. They both look good in certain angles. what do you guys think is more common nowadays the drift wing or gtr?? Nismo Racer
GTR wing, since it got a better finish as u said Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182219-gtr-wing-or-drift-wing/#findComment-3308908 Share on other sites
cheez
id go drift wing, but before you put it on and spray it all up, get the panel beater to bog all the way around the wing so it will have a seamless finish on the boot. this will stop water getting under and looks great. seamless body kits in general look good but up to you. cruzin33
Id say GTR wing but your car would suit a drift wing. I was thinking of going seamless with my gtr wing but be spewing if my brake light f**ked up. killswitch88
i reckon the drift wing looks heaps better but in saying that different wings compliment different rear bars aswell. as mentioned above if u go with the drift wing seal it up, id use sikaflex instead of bog though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182219-gtr-wing-or-drift-wing/#findComment-3309552 Share on other sites
POLICE
yeah I'll say the drift wing too, I dun really think the GTR wing looks that good. Maybe it's because the boot is too small and the wing is angled outwards to make it bigger. Stock S2 wing FTW if your car's sitting low with nice dishes then the drift wing is a definite good choice Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182219-gtr-wing-or-drift-wing/#findComment-3309620 Share on other sites
candy33
Thanks for your opinions guys! I definitly like the drift wing too, but unfortunatly can't bog it onto the bootlid as my cars candy and its hard to repair if cracking occurs. Does anybody have pics of the driftwing on a r33 gtr rear. or with a m-sport/final konnexion style rear bar. Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182219-gtr-wing-or-drift-wing/#findComment-3313888 Share on other sites
phenline
if you have the gtr rear gaurds on already i think going with the GTR wing after that will make it seem alittle to try hard if you know what i mean like trying to make it a gtr. What about getting a Carbonfiber drift wing? would set the red of really nicely or just paint it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182219-gtr-wing-or-drift-wing/#findComment-3314077 Share on other sites
DriftyR33
The GTR wing does look good but its been done to many times IMO, I like cars to stand out from the crowd, I have an infill low drag lip spoiler same as you I think, gives a nice smooth look to the car but the water problem is annoying at times, If I did it again I would go for the GTS Do Luck drag wing, dont see many around and I love the look Edited August 28, 2007 by DriftyR33 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182219-gtr-wing-or-drift-wing/#findComment-3314628 Share on other sites

Craved
i would suggest fibreglassing the wing to the bootlid, nearly zero chance of cracking, if worried you could have some re-infrocement welded to the underside of the boot lid to increase the rigidity which will reduce any movement that could cause cracking.
