040 will be fine, I just said Walbro as its a bit cheaper.

X-Treme 5 puk ceramic clutch will take the most abuse, $440 i think they are.

HD organic will be a bit easier to drive, but wont take to thrashing as much.

Usually when you buy an engine package, you get the right box with it.... so A RB20 engine package will have the turbo box and so forth.

Yes its just that this is in a VL...so it could be an rb30 manual box ? I just want to know for my own sake, rather then taking the guys word for it.

Whats the RB30 box like compared to the 20 box strength wise ?

Personally, Id buy a package from a reputable importer, they all have been inspected and tested and *usually* come with a warrenty.

You could try looking for the part numbers for the G/Boxes on the net, and see what one the VL has?

yeh, agreeing with ben on clutch - ceramic is where its at

thats why i reckon luke's doesnt feel so harsh compared to mine - organic is a lil less harsh than ceramic, yet wont take as much punishment

Yeah luke, Think thats whats in mine too. x-treme solid face drift clutch. Like $900 retail but worth their weight in gold.

Matty's is the 5 puk ceramic faced one.... still a good clutch, better for those on a budget.

Organic faced is one step below that one. Best if your mum hasto drive it. If not id go 5 puk ceramic.

My friend also recommended the organic 1 as well. He has 1 in his car. However he got defected, hasnt driven it for six months (in mean time he drove an ae82 corolla) and now went back to the organic and he says it takes about a week to get used to again (feels really hard).

Im really not sure on this 1. I mean i never really THRASH the crap out of any of my cars so i dont think the strongest 1 would be necessary....

There's your answer champ.

As for your engine, Give Ryan/terry @ Kansai a call, they sell RB20DET packages for for $1600 - $1700 I think, and all are tested.

Other wise go to D1 Garage, Just got a fresh Batch of motors in, or Go See Denso @ JMS. They've got a Modded 20DET package sitting there (HKS Turbo/MHG/Other bits and pieces)

    • I was 99% sure the standard one is long enough to get there, you might just have to change the throttle orientation. If not, I remember someone having used an r31 cable instead, but that is probably harder to find than r33 by now...
    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
