i dont believe the standard gate should leak or bleed automatically

the actuator is std setup is always live, that is, it always see's boost pressure and only opens or starts to open at 750mhg

the auto co-incedently opens at 550mmhg so 7/5psi accordingly. the gate shouldnt open at 5psi on the manual

even the nissan service manual states for poor performance to check the actuator and use a pressure guatge to make sure it doesnt open until 750mmhg (ish).

the duty helps the controller maintain stable boost once target is reached. the duty is a ratio of opened to closed in a cycle.

so if the duty is say 80 then its 80 cycles closed, 20 cycles open. if that makes sense (in a simple way).

this stops a big boost hit and the dump, it helps maintain stable control. most ebc's can do this correctly, specially on a std turbo setup

Yeah definately looks like you have an issue...

With the EVC fitted to my car, full boost was achieved way faster than standard.

Another thing to check is the warning and boost drop settings on the EVC...

By default they are disabled, but if the tuner has set it up lower than the boost is spiking it would obviously cause a drop.

Like i mentioned before hi-boost on mine was spiking pretty high (+4 psi)

The Offset (Gain) is the main setting to ease the spiking, on high boost i wound it right down to 20% to stop the spike

Another thing to do is to RESET it and start again... my tuner had some issues with mine, so i started again :D

It is really easy to use, you just need a safe place to test it!

The intial setup is v. important because it sets the correct boost levels (Correction) so the actuator functions properly...

Hi Michael, boost drop and warning is set at 100kpa so yeah Im nowhere near hitting that yet.

I will take the offset/gain back a little bit to prevent the spiking on the low boost setting on a cold night and see if that controls the spike.

Yeah the tuner did the initial setup with a target boost of 65kpa and correction of 100% default. 75kpa for high setting and 100% default. What are your correction settings?

Did some quick testing last nite.

In 3rd gear, it gets to 0.5 bar (about 7.5psi) pretty okay before 3000rpm

but it wont clime higher to like 0.65 bar until after 3000rpm so yeah seems laggy. It should be hitting 0.65 bar before 3000rpm I think.

I also turned the unit off, HKS manual says that turning the unit off is like running the base default boost pressure.

It hit 0.5bar again before 3000rpm and pretty much stayed there all the way to redline.

Problem is with the stock solenoid etc hooked up before the EVC install, I was getting more like 0.75 bar

So why is the controller so laggy? is it something wrong with the car or the settings?

The manual says that with the unit fitted it may lower ya base boost... Not a drama.

Mine stayed the same cos i got a full 3" exhaust done, so it balanced out the fall from the EVC install.

How different is it when its OFF compared to when its ON(in low boost mode)?

If it is very different.... it is most probably the settings!

When i switch mine off it behaves the same as before just at a lower boost level (When its ON, my Low setting is higher than base)

If adjusting setttings or reseting it fails to solve ya issue, then its is something with ya car.

Like i mentioned before, it should hit full boost relatively quicker... mine hits full boost at or just after 3K

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
