hey fellas i dont the diagnostics on my r33 a/c system

the symptoms are, i get hot air on and off when i turn on the A/C (can hear compressor turning off and on randomly so i rekon it thinks that car has reached desired temp)

hold the off button for 5 sec, all lights up

press UP and 2 flashes.... gives error 25 (sun sensor)

press UP and 3 flashes.... gives code 30 (all good i assume)

press UP and 41 comes up and sounds like the air con starts going..nothing else happens

press UP and 5 comes on but nothing happens

can someone explain each step for me

i thought it done some temperature test aswell but maybe coz it wont pass code 25??

yes i tried the car in bright sunlight and in the night and still get the error 25

almost 100% sure its a sensor just not sure which one... had the drier/filter replaced and regassed at the end of 06

You're getting hot air on and off so I assume it's something wrong with your sensors. First off try holding down the cold button for about 8sec/until a sign 'FC' comes up. It should ignore all sensors and push out the coldest air possible. See what happens then.

is this the same for r33 ?

i know that guide is written for an r32 which has the ambient button, but the r33 doesn't have that button

Just try holding down the 'cold' button first mate. It should react the same way the R32's unit does.

I also have a problem.

When I start my car 'n turn A/C on, I get cold air. But after the car runs to the normal temperature, hot air comes out.

Any ideas that what's goin wrong with my A/C?

ill try 'FC' tomorrow.

Sounds like your motor which controls the hot/cold is stuck on the hot. Give the 'FC' thing a try and see what happens.

okz, mine is startin to annoy me, i've done the test get 25 which i know don't worry bout, get 30 then i go into the 4 range and it goes from 41 to 46 fan speed changes and stuff, then i get into a 5 range where if i push the window demist button it displays 29 i push it agian it shows 26 and again then it goes back to 5, if i push the fan button it comes up with 0, pushing temp down allows a minimum of -3 and temp up allows max of 3 does any one know waht this is??

And how do you get FC to come up do you need a/c on?? eng running??

It doesn't seem like the door is the problem to me. It seems to be moving alright. I would probably start looking at the sensors. You said in your previous post (bit confusing :( ) that you had a temperature reading of '-3'. That's not supposed to be possible.

i've tried to hold the "cold" button but nothing happen (no any "FC" sign) on display screen.

still have hot air

if it caused by those motor, can i fix it myself? or any workshop recommend? (I live in Sydney)

You've got to hold the button for pretty long. About 10sec continued after the temp reaches 18 degrees. So hold until it gets to 18 degrees and continue holding until 'FC' comes up (about 10sec later).

You've also got an R33 so I'm not sure if it's the same as the 32's.

I found out that the -3/+3 is some form of calibration in which you can set the difference between the indicated temperature and sensed temperature

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
