as per the attachment, that connection going into the resevoir, what is it for???, as we done an auto to manual conversion in the weekend, and forgot to plug that connection in, and coincidentally at the same time, the brakes started to engage on their own after some 10mins of driving, and the brake pedal was extremely hard, and they all were smelling, was this the cause for it, im hoping so:)

Well, did the problem go away when you plugged it back in? :D

This happened on my XGF's Mazda, after driving for a while the brakes would slowly engage, couldnt get to 100km/h in the end, struggled at 80km/h.

Turned out to be a shagged master cylinder.

That wiring plug is just for the low brake fluid warning light.

Have you messed up something with the brake pedal installation when you put the manual pedal box in? From memory the link rod from the pedal to master cylinder is adjustable..... ie, are the brakes constantly engaging?, and just getting worse as they heat up, and in turn, bind up. (until of course they just fade, then catch fire).

hey ok, now that worries me again. I cant test as i have said, but if what you say is true, then i need to check elsewhere. The brakes arent engaged all the time, i mean i test this by parking on a hill and leaving it in netral and handbrake down...car rolls......now after ten minutes or thereabouts of driving, park up on hill leave it in neutral and handbrake down.....car doesnt even move!, and the brake pedal is nearly fully engaged.....whats the cayuse of this, im scared to drive anywhere right now.oh and every time i touch the brake pedal,i hear a noticeable click noise.

can you post a link on how to adjust the link rod, if thats the cause, and is their a factory setting it should be set at....im going to have to try one by one i guess.....coudl this also affect my power steering, as right now its extremely heavy!

another question: since i replaced the brake pedalbox from the auto one to a manual one when doing the conversion, was the brake master cylinder supposed to be bled in aswell??

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
