Got A Solution For Ppl Sick Of Skylines Being Stolen...

Recommended Posts

I have had 3 skylines .. a 33 series 1 a 33 series 2 and an r34 gtt.

Love the fact that they are 206 kw factory... hate the fac that someone wants to steal them every chance they can.

Insurance is expensive, some ppl dont even have insurance.

But where are you going to get a car with style with the following options;

200kw factory

AWD

Smooth look and feel...all the fruit you need!

4 Cylinder turbo, cheap to run, insure and register....

And stealth enought to not attract the attention of the law and criminals?

Ready to import now.. sub 20k....I am soooooo getting one.

Legnums are deff' the go if you want a turbo wagon 2.5 litre twin turbo V6 (6A-13) and they are cheaper, iron chef has a few from 10,800 to 14,500, that or a stagea.

still the soccer mums car but....

hmm ive read nothing but stolen r32/33/34's for months, now ive heard knife point car jackings and ram raids for a skyline.

I would rather have a caldina with the same power as a skyline but without all the bullshit any day..

And they look tough.

you know you can get up to a 2007 model one of these.

Yes the Iron Chef has a couple but they are pre 2002.

you can now pick up a Audi A4 b6 turbo quattro for mid 20 - 30's (avant if you are looking for wagon)

the pre 02 caldina looks poo and i doubt 03 onward will be any cheap

it really makes me wonder why imports?

when i had my S13 or r33 5,6 years ago

there were nothing in the market provide similar options, performance and style for under $60,000

imports were the obvious choice, as a shitty E36 318i costs more than a R33 gts-t

now they are no longer the most money for value

I still own one only because I am passionate about skyline

if I have to make a sensible change I would have a decent look around before I consider an import again

A soccer mums car is a toyota torago, or a an urban SUV/4wd.

Legnums and WRX Wagons and Caldina are not soccer-mum cars, they are hatches and wagons, furthermore, there is no such thing as "soccer" in Australia. its football. Soccer resides in the US.

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
