cause we are already talking big singles on 26's

im interested to know thoughts on a Turbonetics T72 on a 26

The Turbonetics T72 has the same comp wheel but 72mm inducer as the Garrett GT4202R, HKS T51R and Billet 72, 74, and 76.

The Turbonetics will most likely be non ball bearing but if it is the ball bearing version it only has one ball bearing. They also have an old school TO4 Turbine.

Turbonetics do have a new line of turbo’s that use GT style turbines. They call them F1 turbines. I’m pretty sure the T72 is not apart of the new turbo’s. There new turbo’s are still only single ball bearing as well.

The Turbonetics T72 is not a bad turbo but the other turbo’s have more advanced turbines, bearings and housings.

awesome thanks for that, the motor im hopefully buying already has one strapped to it so just trying to get some ideas but it seems they are not very popular maby more in the states after googling it

the thing is the motor has not yet been run, but im guesing it will be good for a safe 600hp safely

Cool as so looks like I can just start bending over right abooouutt, now. If they know what they are doing over there I really don't mind paying the extra to get it done right the first time.

Thanks for the help boy and girls.

Hi all , I'm not sure if Garrett market a ball bearing version of the T51R except through HKS . This is way too much turbo for 400Kw IMO so I wouldn't burn too much time looking at them .

I think differently now about the single / twin turbo debate on RB26's mainly because of the cost and effort to change them .

Good reasons do exist for going the single route but I think they are competition related and real race cars usually have the budget to match . I'll be blunt here but at the same time this is not an attack on any one individual . Many single turbo manifolds are absolute garbage and people don't want to spend the money on those that really make the twin scroll single turbo work as well or better than the factory short branch manifolds and parallel twin turbos . Basically you gets given a choise with the 26 head , tear up 5-7 approx grand on the gun manifold/turbo/gates or fit appropriately sized aftermarket bolt on type RB 26 twins . Even at 2G each your going to be better off financially and it'll look sort of factory , no externals to try and convince the cops it just has big EGR valves ....

For the power you want it'll be easier for you if the cylinder head is modified properly and suitable cams fitted , the std head lacks breathing on the exhaust side and mildish cams help give them larger lungs . At least the RB26's six throttle inlet system helps takes the chaff cutter effect (reversion) out of longer period cams .

I look at it this way , I'd only want to have a GTR in bits once so it would be head off meaning you can get at the crowded TT side . I'd have the head ported and buy mild cams , smooth up the std manifolds and buy suitable turbos such as 2530's or equal . Good split dumps seem to make a worthwhile difference so buy them too . If its possible to simplify the factory plumbing and mike minor alterations to the fastening systems thats worth a look because GTR's are a bitch to work around on the turbo side . Then assemble and tune and be happy . I would not lose any sleep if it only got 385 Kw because the last kw/nm don't get used all that often . I believe having a usable power range is an exercise in sanity and far more practicle than having one high number .

I probably shouldn't ask but is there any particular reason for wanting 400 Kw ? I'd consider 300-350 plenty for a street car and I think you can get a far more usable power range with the headwork/cams/mild turbos such as GT-SS's or the Garrett marketed version . I think you can make a mildly modded GTR go better everywhere than a std one particularly at around town speeds and revs . Its the low to mid range punch that the earlier GTR's seem to lack and why I reckon I see so many "idled" around at 3500 revs and given the gas from there just to get some shove in the back . Its the legacy of being a heavy homologation special and having less capacity because of the turbo multiplication factor .

Your money , your call .

Cheers A .

You're kidding me, you guys need to open up a shop down here so we can get some of that going on.

I have been told by 2 performance shops down here that I will only get around 350awkw going with the setup above using the 2530's I already have.

Was there any head work done?

thats cause they (those shops) are probaly brain washed into thinking garrets and hks are the same..... housings differrences MAKE ALL THE DIFFERRENCE. i have never once been able to replicate results with generic garret housing when compared to the HKS equivalents.

As for 400rwkw you can do it with low mounts shit we get easy 380rwkw out of T517Z (std heads) all day everyday.

discopotato03 - Thanks for the big response, the reason I was wanting to go single and 400 All wheel KW (does anyone know if this is different to rwkw?) is because I already have 2530's and 290 All wheel KW. I was told that I would get around 50 awkw more for 7K with the same turbos or for the same price and go single I would hit the 400awkw mark.

I also want to run a 10 only because I am the only one out of about 15 mates with tough cars that has a turbo, the rest have V8's. I know I can drill them around corners but I want to beat them down the quarter as well. The quickest has run an 11.2 so I have to beat that.

In regards to turbos I am really interested in the Billet Turbos made by Mr. Turbo in Qld, they are a lot more advanced then the garret or the HKS brands. Check them out and let me know what you guys think.

So the 8K mark is where I am at with the budget 4k allocated for fitting and tuning the rest for parts (I get them wholesale so thats why its so low). Is this enough for labour or am I dreaming?

Well 440rwkw out of the Garrett -5s is pretty good going i reckon (pump fuel) ;)

As good as, if not better than, the HKS items.

:(

As for running a 11.2 - you'll beat that with a 350rwkw GTR if you can drive.

Not a worry in the world!

Thats pretty damn good, but can anyone clarify the difference between all wheel kW and rear wheel kW?

If there is a difference, what is 285 all wheel kW in rear wheel kW?

Cheers

    • I can ship Nismo floor mats to you: https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/nismo-floor-mats-for-skyline-r33-bcnr33-stagea-wgnc34?_pos=1&_sid=9278c1467&_ss=r
    • Here's the link: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6642/misc/G49?frame_no=WGNC34-137122 What you think about it? The same product i found on nengun: https://www.nengun.com/oem/parts/40567/MiPwn5qAMfCfmpxHNDnwn5q9MDAx8J-QiW9sZC1qcC0xMTAtRzQ5LS0wMDE/Floor+Carpet+%2F+Mat+2/0688339eba149c19 Bot i have spoken to 😅 ensured me, that mats are 100% original, oem product. I have my doubts. I also heard what you mentioned, that nengun often offers items that are actual not available... On the other hand mats i found on japanese yahoo or ebay are in poor condition and still quite expensive so i'd rather wait for some better offers. My location - Poland. We literaly don't have ANY market for used Stagea parts so need to search outside Europe.
    • You can’t see much on the other side as the lcd is there I don’t think it’s the same as the m33 beside it as the markings on top is not the same was hoping someone had a good quality photo or if they just happened to have the unit in hand, quickly take the cover off and take a photo to clearly show the marking on top to identify the diode   the unit is currently with an electronics repair shop so I can’t take another photo at the moment hopefully they are smart enough to know if it’s a zener diode or not
    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
