tell her you wanna hook up lol.....

delux...consider yourself lucky mate, he prob didnt have proof that you where speeding..therefor cant give you a fine.

i cant see a D having a laser gun in the car.....

prob just got bored and wanted a closer look at ya car. lol

Got pulled over today on Sheppards Hill Rd Blackwood by undercovers........... The guy said i sped out of a side street onto Shepps doing 61 in the 50 zone outta Blackwood, then he prcceds to tell me my car looks too low(which it is) but then says "we cant actually defect you, but a traffic cop would" i said "yeh no worries" they looked thru the car, asked if it was modded, i said "nah mate, stock as a rock, do you want me to pop the bonnet for ya" and he said "nah all good mate, have a nice day"

WTF, since when CANT a D defect you?, and why is it that i was doing "61" in a 50 zone and he didnt give me a ticket??

Nice cops tho, was from the UK, maybe it was cos im such a nice guy............

Its pretty simple

they used the speeding excuse as a pretense to pull you over. They can pull you over without evidence

They did not have evidence as to the speeding (they didnt have a camera and their word wouldnt stand up in court)

They found that you passed the attitude test and u werent a tosser.

D's can't defect you because there are not many traffic detectives. Traffic offences are for the most part classed as misdemeanor s (aside from homocide using automotive as weapon/driving vehicle with intent to kill), so they tend to put D's on stuff like Murder, Burglary, Assaults, etc. Aka >where they're supposed to be<. But don't forget, to become a detective, you need to spend a fair amount of time as a constable/sergeant before they can apply to do the detective course. So those guys probably just felt like pulling you over for old times sake/to suss you out. Remember, the pretense that you're pulled over with may not be the intent that they pull you over for. The only people who have something to hide are criminals/drunks/druggers.

For my 2c, I have no problems when stuff like this happens. A) It means theyre actively looking for dodgy skyline drivers, B) It means that if you're not the 'boy racer' stereotype then you only have the attitude test to worry about. I've been pulled over a couple of times since I got the GTR but never defected. Provided good people don't get defected for minor infractions, I'm happy. Stuff like atmospheric Bovs, screamers, seriously loud exhausts should get defected. Its a big 'f**k you' to the environment and everyone whos neighbourhood u drive thru. However, considering the last few weeks worth of skyline thefts, I'm quite happy to deal with the inconvenience of getting pulled over, so long as I know that if any twit in a stolen skyline would be subjected to the same. And considering my numberplate is rather visible, I hope that I get known for my car in a good way.

Yeh for sure, totaly agree, and now i think about it i think i may have heard one of them say after smelling my boot and was like "i thought i smelt dope??" I said nothing, as i had nothing to hide or gain!!

Maybe they thought i was a drug dealer in my massive car!! Meh what ever i just hope they dont put on file that they "think my car is too low" so that the next traffic cop that runs a rego check on me nabs me straight away, i really dont want the car any higher, and cbf ajusting the coilies!! :D

Well its the old story about accountability. Don't forget that cops are subjected to >massive< internal pressure to do it right. As it stands I think there are 3 different agencies that investigate police officers for misconduct depending on the situation.

Once a bonnet or boot is asked to be inspect, it escalates into a second condition. Pulling over a person is one thing, but searching the vehicle whether it be boot, bonnet or interior, is another thing. If there was any question about drugs, they would have demanded an inspection, so I think that comment was psychological baiting at best (aka attitude test). And I certainly don't think they would've filed any such notes as a) indicating you may be low would require them to explain to their superiors how the came to that conclusion so if they didnt measure it then its not worth reporting. and b) I think they just wanted to suss you out, and if you were on drugs/carried drugs your subtle responses would have given you away even before you thought of a response. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

They can ask you to do all sorts of things, but they have to cover their own asses. And everything they do in the field must be recorded and logged verbatim, so theres stacks of paperwork for the modern cop to go thru. Its not just about pullin' the bad dudes over and bustin' some caps.

You passed the test man. Breathe easy. The only hassle you'll get is from someone hating/being thorough.

hahaha wasnt me on the limiter dunno where i grabbed that quote from possibly spotted thread

the top one look tuff!!

i can hear an RB happily on the rev limiter somewhere round my area...and for once, its not me....hmmmm steve??

i accidental rolled my sisters car when i took it forgetting to get her permission and had no one else in the car with me then tried to say it was stolen, so yeah lost my license for 6months

HA HA steve, i lost my bike licence as well, i got cought doing a burnout at my year 12 muck up day ha ha...oh well, it was only my learners.

Adrian read what Lee is saying its hard to fit a couple of aircraft between your cams

ei SPLITFIRES are easy SPITFIRES are not

i accidental rolled my sisters car when i took it forgetting to get her permission and had no one else in the car with me then tried to say it was stolen, so yeah lost my license for 6months

I can better that. I lost my licence for drink driving/dangerous driving for 6 months back in 2001.

Basically Id never had illusions before (some pineapple pussy drink with vodka/midori) and I sped up montefiori hill and tried to negotiate a 25kph corner at 80kph, in the wet (aka Wellington Square) and ended up crashing thru a pole and the square itself, >right infront of the cops<.

I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the silhouette of the lights and just said 'f**kit'. Dude came up said 'Please exit the car' and it was all protocol from there on in. 6month loss of licence. $1000 fines, $1000 legal bill, $4k car repairs.

Never ever ever ever will this happen again. Im anal about drink driving now. So yeah, a lesson learnt for the good.

And if any of u out there are risking it, think twice ffs. It'll hurt u way more than it hurts the state

hey Darren, they either thought you were a Pimp in your new ride or they appreciated the blondie driver........did the UK cop look gay?!

lol Ben, where you a cop back in the day or something.

Cops don't need any reason to pull anyone over these days.....if your driving a Skyline you only have to look at a cop twice at lights to give him a reason or even if you go out of your way to avoid eye contact to give him a reason.

    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
