TPG do some pretty good deals too

Good deals but substandard service. I've heard quite a lot of negatives from TPG and very few positives aside from the download limit/price ratio which IS good value but when things go wrong their support sucks and they don't know whats going on - Adam and Node have got exceptional support, and its 100% local too!

LOL!

I too have heard the good and the bad about TPG, Adam and Internode. I know guys that have disconnection issues with TPG but then I don't get that really at all, some get it with Adam an node others don't.

Oh everyone has disconnections from time to time, especially in summer. Either the DSLAM's fail or their backend provider stops providing the ATM links to the exchanges (like what happened last friday), these for the most part are unavoidable and happen to every ISP... the main gripe with the other guys is that the internal organisation hasn't got good information dissemination nor a chain of command to manage outages and customer support tickets.... you'll find that if you call Adam or Internode when there is a problem, they'll generally already know about it or they'll be able to troubleshoot it rather quickly... this is due to good management and internal policies.

Unfortunately, the bigger the organisation, the more complex and beaurocratic it is... Telstra and Optus are a good case in point, TPG not so much but still bigger. From a business point of view they appeal to different types of consumers, so theres really no 'right' or 'wrong' about it, however when it comes to service, QoS and reliability, the smaller guy is always going to win out because he realizes how important the business is and bends over backwards to keep it... sure he might charge more per gigabyte but that means he won't try to screw you over either..

QUOTE (PREISS @ 31 Mar 2009, 11:41 PM) post_snapback.gifJust got a couple questions directed at the mods.

Ive noticed in the last few months alot of posts have been deleted. Most are crap, yes I agree. Correct...you may be referring to the one you made about ass licking or kissing in Nene's thread, yeah?!

(I didnt clarify. I meant posts/new threads . People asking questions. closed threads . What Im getting at SLED is ; . If my Dad were to join a club online and ask a question. not being a computer genius he would jsut ask a question in a new thread. A few would answer and it would be over. Not all members sit on SAU all day reading everything. nor do all members know alot about computers. Really think about it

yes I did say people ass suck / why cant I ? That statement has nothing on what some members say.

but - Ive seen some valid posts where people are asking simple questions they may want to know the answer to.. Wasteland is swamped with crap most of the time and if someone wants to know something car related why cant they open a thread without the harsh rude crap ibtl etc etc that most people have to say straight after. I hate IBTL's as well, but what does it tell you about the thread when even the members all jump in and do that?!.....it's either in the wrong place or a stupid question that gets asked week after week (the search button is your friend) or its offensive in some manner.

(Sled. Not all people know everything like some members claim on here. A stupid question to you could be a serious question to others. So many smartasses could use their knowledge and simply answer a question and it would be over)

I just went through every other state's SAU forums. They dont seem to close threads nearly as often. You're kidding right....you've clearly never met *** or visited ***.....I'm a big pussycat in comparisson, lol.

( Did you have a look. All other states have low post count simple questions)

I think some people would like answers. After all its a forum. Its almost like a race atm to see who can close threads.

Correct, and all the Mods & Admins are in agreeance.......it's clean up time for the very reasons discussed in the other thread where SAU was going downhill and older members have left through either intimidation or the crap they have to put up with. As Nightcrawler says regularly, it's a new era Preiss.

( Not answers as in answers from you. I meant a simple question . answer base. . I agree close all crap threads. But leave some simple questions that some members may want to know. )

Honestly im not too worried anymore. Im not going to enter anymore debates. Some people really really need to get a life outside the SAU website. From now on Ill just ask Questions If I need anything answered and read alittle about cars. Mark my words.

lol Preiss....do you understand what a PM is?.............PRIVATE Message!!!

Not that I have anything to hide but if I posted some of the PM's I got from some of you in Wasteland.......it might be shock horror for some.

I've only recently been active on this forum as I got a week of annual leave and actually have time. Have been dissapointed at the amount of arguing/fighting/warnings/threads locked/closed/banned and all of that.

We're all here in our free time, surely the point is to use the forums appropriately to get to know like minded skyline (and the like) enthusiasts and be resources for each other.

I like it here and don't want to think about looking at other forums as I love skylines, but I don't want to spend my free time reading other people's arguments and threats.

Surely we're all here to have a good time??

[inline6 I'm looking forward to the smartass reply - don't dissapoint ;)]

Nothing that happens on here is life or death guys, take it easy, get along, play nice.

just my 0.02c

i go here for a good time................well best be honest i actually go here www.ilikemidgitwoman.com

hows that? im an accountant cut me some slack if my jokes are bad.

yeah there does get a bit of bikering from time to time.

my apoligies to all i did not mean for full scale war fare just dont like posts giving impressions we perform illegal activitys. Particuly not when nene is putting her ass on the line. looking back my 2 rushed posts between uni and work come off more aggresive than i intended. im assuming martin's comment was made in jest or just trying to highlight the fact we still will not be invincible to police.

always a prob with internet posts, no tone of voice. i dare say my comments were taken way further then i intended.

we all know net is best used for porn and music ;)

6er you rock dude.

I wasn't commenting on any one thing as I only skim read all the fight posts anyway, but right now I could easily find 10 posts from 10 different people that are clearly aggressive/hostile.

Honestly who's got time for that sh!t.

If anyone wants conflict, go to your local pub and start a fight, God knows there will be like minded individuals there.

On here let's just talk cars and chillax people. Come on peace love and save the whales and all that.

6er you keep smilin dude, don't sweat it ;)

as far as cruises and meet ups they general roll alot more friendly, ive only knocked 1 person out been ko'd on 2 occasions and there was that stabbing charge from ruby and his bikie gang for which the charges were DROPPED ;)

nah they run alot more friendly atmosphere, generally cause of the tone of voice thing and people are generally friendlyier in person because they in swinging distance

    • That's kind of what I was getting at saying you'd be here soon regarding length etc being able to add additional restriction.  My assumption (possible donkeys of you and mption) is that the length of hose to an oil cooler, and back, isn't going to be that huge of a loss. Typically you're talking about 1.5m of total length. And so far everyone in our world hasn't had issues with oil not being able to get to a cooler and back, it's more been, how the heck do we get the oil out of the head and back down to the bottom? I'd nearly hazard a guess the biggest issue people have with oil cooling and oil supply, is being able to get the heat out at the cooler itself (not enough air flow, too small of a cooler etc) Also, when people mount them wrong and make really awesome air traps so they've dramatically diminished the cooling capacity.
    • I will rebutt this and the preceding point from Dose....but without doing any calcs to demonstrate anything and without knowing that I am right or wrong. But... The flow capacity of a fluid transfer system is not limited by the smallest orifice or section of conduit in that system, unless it is drastically smaller than the rest of the system. OK, I use the word drastically perhaps with too much emphasis, but let's drill down on what I really mean. The flow capacity of the system is the result of the sum of the restrictions of the entire system. So, to make an extreme example, if you have a network with 3" pipe everywhere (and let's say a total length of only a few metres) and that 12mm ID restriction of the oil filter connection being the obvious restriction, then for any given amount of pressure available, the vast majority of all the pressure drop in the system is going to occur in the 12mm restriction. But.... increase the length of the 3" pipeline to, say 1000m, and suddenly the pipe pressure loss will likely add up to either be in the same order of magnitude, possibly even exceeding that of the 12mm restriction. Now the 12mm restriction starts to matter less. Translate this to the actual engine, actual oil cooler hose sizing, etc etc, and perhaps: The pressure loss caused by flowing through the narrow section (being the 12mm oil filter port, and perhaps any internal engine oil flow pathways associated with it) is a certain number. The pressure loss through, say, -12 hoses out to the cooler and back is negligible, but The pressure loss through -10 hoses out to the cooler, at the exact same length as the above, starts to become a decent fraction of the loss through the 12mm stuff at the filter port. Maybe even it starts to exceed it. I could actually do these calcs if I knew 1) how much oil was actually flowing in the line, 2) gave enough of a f**k to do things that I hate doing for work, voluntarily for a hypothetical discussion. Anyway - I reiterate. It's not the narrowest port that necessarily determines how much it can all flow. It is the sum. A long enough length of seemingly fat enough pipe can still cause more loss than a semmingly dominant small bore restriction.
    • To pick up what Dose is putting down. Not a lot of point running a huge hose if the motor is still restricted to the smaller size... It's only capable of flowing so much at that point...   *Waits for GTSBoy to come in and bring in the technicalities of length of pipe, and additional restriction from wall friction etc etc*
    • Hooley Dooley these things have some history! If i sell them they will need a certificate of providence to prove they have been in the hands of verified RB20 royalty! They have been stored in a plastic tub, away from sunlight and moisture. They are in mint condition. And they will stay that way, as i have sprung the money for a set of shockworks coilovers. I'm just working on getting them in at the moment, after rebushing the rear of the car, and while the subframe was out i welded in the GKtech reinforcement bracing as well.  They will get a workout at Ararat King of The Hill in November. I ran 48s on the short course there a few months ago, and i am hoping with new bushes and shocks in the rear i can launch a bit harder. There was a fair bit of axle tramp when i tried too hard off the line. a few of the corners had dips mid way which also made the car feel a bit unsettled, hopefully this will help there too.
