doh comment :)

i always thought it was amusing that alcohol and cigarettes accounted for a substantially larger ratio of deaths than every other drug in existance COMBINED

it could however be argued a crap load more people drink booze and smoke cigy's therefore you would expect more deaths in relation to it. but i have a dislike for illegal drugs so call me biast :)

and i stay the f away from coffee :P i know ppl that went into shakes on a regular basis when they tried giving it up. i have however fell victim to lunch time coke hits. its O K there's no sugar. o that was coke zero btw :P

and i see more talk of the kat tat chick bone or no bone. we had that discussion, it was established half of sau want aids :D

spot on luke hahaha i am a fan of Ms von D so leave me alone

Some say that the artificial sweetners will cause cancer faster than cigarettes will......!

And mobile phones give you head tumors and everyone must take fish oil everyday.... etc etc. We are all gonna die at some stage, if we all lived the perfect lives we would eat 2 fruit and 5 veg every day, be on more multivitamins than you can swallow at once and avoid all luxuries in life because they increase your chance of testicular malfunction or your skeleton jumping out of your skin. f**k it, live life!

Err.... I think you might have taken my post a tad too serious......

Lol not having a go at you Talbs, more a go at the reports on the news of everyday objects increasing your risk of death. Off on a tangent :)

LOL! I know..... I don't like any of those diet/artificial sweetner drinks myself and I don't think there is anything conclusive to say it causes cancer other than in lab rats :P

You're more likely to walk across the road and get cleaned up by a hoon driving a skyline..... :)

Speaking of cleaned up, I nearly hit some f**khead on a bike today. Was driving my brothers vitara and was in a slip lane to do a right hand turn into a sidestreet. Was on northeast road and the traffic was backed up and the two lanes of cars had stopped to allow room for the turn across the traffic. Anyhow, I'm turning in and this the sphincter of the universe flies past at around 50-60 and screams obscenities at me while I tap the brakes just enough to miss him, as he flies past. You'd think that cyclists exercise a little bit more caution, considering the bike lane is completely blind when the traffic is banked up (and the fact that the traffic was banked up for a good couple KM and the sensible drivers had left room for people to turn...

Is it just me, or are all cyclists total wankers?

Certainly can be.... I'm all for sharing the road, but when these morons ride 2+ abreast and block lanes they're just asking for abuse or even worse..... Funnily enough I too almost cleaned up a cyclist this morning go across the Salisbury Hwy intersection from Commercial Rd.... flamin mongrel was riding pretty much in the middle of the road where 2 lanes merge..... wtf :)

Transport SA pretty much vindicates both of us in this scenario :

Bicycles are classified as vehicles and therefore bicycle riders have the same responsibilities and must obey the same rules as motor vehicle drivers. Remember:You can be charged with a traffic offence in the same way as a motor vehicle driver. This includes incurring demerit points against your Driver's Licence if you hold one. You incur demerit points even if you don’t hold a Driver’s Licence (which can prohibit you from obtaining one). Although the law gives you the same rights and responsibilities as other road users, all road users may not be aware of this. You are more easily injured than motor vehicle occupants are and it is therefore safer for you to be highly visible and look out for other road users when riding. The law does not give anyone indisputable right of way. Do not assume that another road user is going to give way Some people will judge all bicycle riders by your actions. If you disregard the road rules, you can undermine the goodwill of other road users.

    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
