I am getting an alarm installed with twin immobiliser for my r33 skyline. The installer seems to think he cannont install the alarm/immobiliser with the turbo timer. Has anyone done this themselves? or know how to do it? Please advise me on this so i might be able to advise them.

He said it had to do with the alarm and australian standards.

thanks

I have a HKS type 1 turbo timer with my alarm/immobiliser and they work fine together. I didn't do the wiring myself but I know it has been done via a relay, so when you turn the key off the alarm recognise that and the engine keep running off the turbo timer. There are no security issues because you are not bypassing anything just separating the two devices with the relay.

I have heard that some alarms either have provision for a timer, or inbuilt timers. If not it can be done via a relay as mine has been done.

Sorry I can't tell you exactly how the wiring is done, as I got it done by the guy who did my stereo install. I had been told by a few people that it couldn't be done also till I came across this guy. He just said alot of guys aren't aware how its done because it isn't that common, and that most guys that do these installs aren't true auto electricans.

Dunno how much truth there is in that, all I know is that mine now works and I can't fault any of the work he did. It is all quality, tidy work.

firstly, you cannot have the feature whereby the doors unlock when the engine dies

secondly, you need a bypass chip that allows u to look your car and immobilise after the engine dies. the chip cost me 38 bucks to add on to my pre-existing alarm.

send it to the shop that fitted your alarm and if the seem incompetent, send to another agent that does the same type of alarms :) hope that helps

firstly, you cannot have the feature whereby the doors unlock when the engine dies

yes this is true however you can have it so when you turn the key and pull it out the doors unlock then the turbo timer counts down. then you get out and lock the car via remote and the alarm arms. well thats my car anyways. oh and when you turn the car on both doors automatically lock.. pretty cool.

also when my car is being run via the turbo timer and you lower the handbrake it cuts out

as long as the immoboliser is not wiered to the fuel pomp the car will still run upn till the timer shuts down most ov the time thay cill the egnishon so theat u cant start it and when the hand brake is let down the car will stall and u cant start it with out the remote the key less entery shoud b abell to lock the car and armit if this is dun

this is what mine does.

i start boosting warhhhhh pshhhh pshhh ect you get the idear.

see some hot chicks, pull over.

decide im so cool that i turn off my ignition.

my blitz turbo timer kicks in, set for 1min or there abouts.

if i dont lock my car the imobiliser automaticlly sets after 30secconds.

if i lock the car the imobiliser is armed and the car is locked.

if i was to be in the car and locked myself in (which i tried) and put the key back in and try start it, the car turns off alarm sirens.

then my cars all locked, i go talk to da hot chix.

and all is cool.

    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
