Cryogenic Freezing

As we know crygenic freezing is supposed to increase the strength and longevity of parts eg crankshafts, pistons, gearsets etc

Who has had this done, where and how much?

It supposedly increases the fatigue resistance of the components, but not their strength.

I wouldn't expect that doing much other than say the oil pump gears or similar components would be worth your while.

Mine cost $30 or thereabouts.

I had the guts pulled out of the oil pump & cryoed.

For the Walt Disney style whole of body thing - well I didn't have enough dollars, so I just got something other than the gear knob done.

I wonder if my bell end will be more fatigue resistant if I get that done.... hmmm. I can't see why it's not a good idea.

dont cryo treat evry part in your car. cryo treating has it advantages, as it uniforms the metal structure in the parts but it makes them brittle as hell. you can cryo treat your geabox internals, and your crank shaft but more then that. and your oil punp and the collar is the last thing id have cryoed, wheb you bounce the limiter there are tniy vibrations that can brake your hardned oilp punpm if it is soft it catches the vibration due to energy absorbtion through bending.

i have seen cryogenics on beyond 2000 years ago when it was commercialized. One of the things that can be done is the exhaust. It makse it sounds more "alive"
