JimX
It's actually spelt "Navtrak". But even after searching for that on Google, I can only find a few references. I found 2 links to "http://www.navtrak.com.au" but that URL doesn't work. Maybe they let their domain expire. I can't find any telephone numbers either. siksII
Hey I when i first bought my skyline a few months ago, i looked at getting various traking systems installed, ie, navtrack and quicktrak... From the information i found, navtrack was actually only doing a trial in australia, and they dont exist in this country anymore, im not sure if the users were even informed of this.. A while back i saw a post where a guys car was backed into, and his navtrack alarm didnt go of, so he intentiaonally set ot off(after lots of effort), and he still did not hear from navtrack as he should have. So i might be wrong, but i have a feeling they packed up n got outa here.... so yea i ended up gettin quicktrack. SS8_Gohan
well i know that if u go with Propserion, u gotta have Navtrak. 1600 install, including first year coverage. After that 300 yr for coverage. Has 3 pt immobiliser and ur car is tracked via GPS. I maybe wrong, but does Qiktrack go via GSM? Mobile network? Well i've heard completely different things about Navtrak, i heard a full setup had been done, security cars get sent out to check our ur car if the alarm goes off. U get SMS notification that the alarm went off, or u get a call from them. Unless i'm getting myself completely confused with Qiktrack services. Anyways, do a search, i think i remember quite a lengthy thread about this a couple of months back. cheers. Ash
QuikTrak is apparently the best in Australia. and its pretty much the same price as Navtrak Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19062-navtrack/#findComment-405854 Share on other sites
Bleach1
quiktrak can only cover you in the sydney metro area. NAVtrak will cover you anythere there is vodaphone coverage. Navtrak is still operational, they are growing quite rapidly apparently. Evan They have been saying that since 1997, when I got my first car and installed a Quiktrak system in it. As I drove around to different areas of Sydney, I would pull over, arm the car and set off the alarm to test their coverage. I must have done this about 20 times in the 2 years I owned that car, and NOT ONCE did they call me. I ended up having to call them and ask if they knew the alarm, was going off, and they said "uhhh we can't tell you that Sir.", even after I verified I was the owner of the car. Then I asked them to please unlock the car, as I left my keys in it, and it was then that they had to admit that they had absolutely no idea where my car was. I sure hope their network has improved since then. edit: the problem with Quiktrak is that they use their own broadcast towers, and as such, they have a VERY VERY limited range. Navtrak relies on the GSM network, so anywhere that you have mobile coverage, your car is being monitored. NRMA CarCom takes this one step further and incorporates a backup GPS tracking system AS WELL AS the GSM network. I think it's pretty plain to see which one is the best, don't you? SS8_Gohan
i was almost 100% sure that Navtrak was GPS?? Merli where'd u get the italic bit of text from? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19062-navtrack/#findComment-406017 Share on other sites
SS8_Gohan
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...light=quicktrak yeah, NavTrak is GPS and GSM, unless something has changed since then... Guest Miss_Nismo
We sell Secure Track here at Complete Audio in Adelaide. What sort of info are you after? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19062-navtrack/#findComment-406029 Share on other sites
Merli
I wrote the stuff in italics, I made it italics to show why I edited the post. Well then NRMA Carcom and Navtrak are both infinitely superior to Quiktrak's proprietary radio network, which has extremely limited reception/coverage. siksII
Ah ok, well i must be misinformed, but to confirm this, can someone point me in the direction of the navtrack website, or even give me a phone number to contact navtrack on, cuz when i was lookin i couldnt find anything on them, cept a web site that does not work.. So ill still be suspicious about their existence untill i speak to them myself, but of course in theory i would agree that navtrack sounds much better. But then again, i have had quiktrack for about 4 months, and the alarm has been set off in various places around sydney, especially bondi/city/chatswood and every time i have gotten a phone call, not once has the alarm gone off and i didnt get a call, so merli, maybe things have changed, or maybe you drive to different places to me... Merli
Well yes, as I said that was in 1997 when I bought my first car, so I sure hope things have improved. I currently have my car with Quiktrak because that's what the previous owner put on there. But yeah, it still stands that a GSM/GPS based tracking system would be FAR superior to a proprietory radio network... I'm still deciding whether I should rip out the Quiktrak and go with CarCom... siksII
Carcom sounds good, i tried to get info for that when i got my tracking too, but i couldnt find any straight away (lazy) so i just got quicktrack cuz i was too anxious to have the car without any decent security... Southo
Navtrak ceased public sales and direct trading about 2 mths ago. The system they used was GPS/GSM and they had supply problems getting the transponder units as they were sharing the technology and supply with another company (which is still running, and installing these transponders, but not as a "theft tracking" system) Those that have existing Navtrak "theft security" systems installed are still being monitored by the 3rd party company that was set up to control this part of the service. They should be offered renewals by this company. At this stage, there are only about 3 companies offering units for sale.. Car Com is NOT one of them - they have done the same as Navtrak and ceased trading to the public - the company who supplies Car Com units is Intellimatics and they now concentrate on Holden Assist vehicle tracking. Thales (prononouced Tallis) Telematics offers the Orchid Tracking system ( the same one as fitted to BMW and Mercedes) - it uses GPS/GSM Novatronics offers a similar GPS/GSM system QuikTrak are still radio tower based - and are limited to Sydney, Brisbane / Gold Coast and Melbourne Metro areas only. I hope this helps. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19062-navtrack/#findComment-408350 Share on other sites
