Item:

Nissan Silvia 1992 RB20DET

Location:

Gold Coast

Item Condition:

Nearly complete.

Reason for Selling:

Was looking to turn it into a track car and get into legal drifting, but I've found I have bitten off more than I could chew taking on this project. Would end up needing to get a trailer & a car that could tow it. Decided that I may try this again in a few years when I can afford to manage such a project. Am starting a new job & decided I want to get something newer. I also went to court earlier this month for drifting related offences and got off with a warning very luckily & decided I might take the judge's advice and stay out of trouble.

Price and Payment Conditions:

Looking for about $14,000 (reasonably negotiable for a serious buyer). Obviously selling UNREGISTERED & with NO RWC. However, am very interested in swaps, cash your way mostly. Looking to upgrade to something like a VT/VU/VX/VY SS or SV8, BA XR6T or XR8 with cash your way, however I am also interested in a swap for a Toyota Aristo (only the 2JZGTE version), an S15 or an R34 GT-T(but I doubt anyone with one of these cars would be willing to downgrade to an S13 lol). However throw an offer my way and I'll think about it.

From a quick count there I calculated $15,898.17 in modifications, and some of the parts I haven't priced. This is without labour, tuning, etc. So for 14k, you are getting a stock RB20DET S13, with $16k spent on it.

Car made 321.2RWHP on 18PSI, is currently running 15PSI. Car is capable of more power too. It is a quick car, I owned a cleanly modded R33 before this without about 190-200rwkw, and this made the 33 seem like a barge. It comes on boost at about 4-4,200rpm, and REALLY comes on hard, spins those 18s in the dry through 1st, 2nd & 3rd. On the highway in the wet I was approaching boost in 5th and it started spinning.

Future mods I had planned were to drop a forged RB20 in it with an RB25 gearbox and aim for about 400rwhp, but after my court appearance, I decided I should take the judge's advice and get something that won't get me in as much trouble lol.

Extra Info: Ok, basically what needs to complete it:

- Has no headlights or indicators, I was planning on converting the front of the car to S14a, so have already sold the headlights & indicators.

- Has a cracked windscreen, would need a replacement.

- Has no exhaust attached from the cat-back, however have the exhaust to go with the car.

- Has no driver's seat (am going to purchase a Bride seat but within the next few weeks possibly), have the passenger seat & back seats to go with sale. Sold the driver's seat unfortunately lol. Also have all the seat belts too.

- Needs a little bit of wiring work currently with gauges, will probably have this fixed anyway.

- Probably would be a good idea to upgrade the suspension to coilovers.

- Needs a new battery, but will probably replace this also.

- Have the original dash with holes cut for gauges & the speedo.

All in all, the car was a pig when I got it, and it is even more of a pig now. It could be returned to road worthy status, would need to purchase the interior again (and air-conditioning I think??). Screamer pipe & BOV would need to be dealt with, obviously the exhaust as well. However I think it would be best suited as a track weapon, as that is what I was setting it up for.

Daily

I also have my daily S13 (SR20DE/Auto) (you can see the badboy in the background there lol), that I can include in the sale as obviously I couldn't afford to always drive this thing around all the time as it is pretty thirsty. With rego + rwc, has about 80,000km on the engine & gearbox, a pioneer headunit, kenwood 6x9s & a mongoose alarm/immobiliser, would be looking for about $3,500. Or have both cars for $17,500.

Pictures:

Ok, at the moment the car is at my old house so I only have one picture at the moment, but this is the basic shape, however it is now completely matte black (very dodge spray can job) with all the interior lime green.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
