do any of you guys use ems stinger?

have you had any probelms?

i think my ems, is causing probelms for my car. i dont think if it's the stinger, but i've been having some trouble with my cold start.

it seems like when it's cold, the car runs rough, but once it warms up, it runs a whole lot smoother.

the spark plugs also always foul up.

do any of you guys have a stinger and have the same probelm?

i might be thinking of buying a new computer if i'm sure the probelms are from the ems stinger.

I have a Stinger.

Is yours in stand alone or piggy back mode ?? Mine is in piggyback mode with the std ECU - no problems with cold start.

It idles a bit higher than normal and fuel economy is ordinary (300kms per tank)

I did have a problem with the igniters and the EMS - EMS had to come out and modify the unit before the car would start.

However, all that said - my engine lost two cylinders a while ago. I don't know if was anything to do with the Stinger, but I don't trust it any more - So I'll be getting another ECU after the rebuild.

Dunno of that helps, but thoght I'd convery my experiences.

Cheers,

    • Ended up just being a loose exhaust bolt luckily.
    • Yeah I made that post way too early, sorry I must have assumed it was bad because it's a 20+ year old thrashed shitbox lol. It was just a loose exhaust bolt.
    • Like others have said, drop the power to give your drivetrain a % of reliability until you can up the drivetrain reliability  It isn't rocket science, build power to the weakest link with a % of safety Whilst upping the the reliability of the drive train is costly, there's no point in having the engine make big power if it keeps eating the drivetrain....ask me how I know, I had the tow truck on speed dial for a few years, and I spent huge amounts of money fixing issues and breakages that really would have been cheaper in the long run if I did it right the first time Me, I like a nice sized fudge factor, that keeps me off the tow truck
    • I don't understand what the issue is with, turn the boost down and start saving $$.  As soon as you can afford the supporting mods, turn the boost back up.  If the car is running fine, enjoy it. Turning the boost down isn't going to kill you.
