Sounds like they didnt balance is properly down to a 1 degree or less but you would really hear if that was the case and shafts would snap and so fourth take the compressor/exhaust housings off and have a look but if you do and its shattered you more than likely wont be able to put it back together!

Go Otomotos kkr 560 (balanced within 1 degree same as garret/hks but only oil cooled like greddy/blitz turbos) i guarantee you wont go back, similar size to a hks3240 bigger than hks3037

Did a light tune on mine today got 277rwkws on 18psi, standard fuel 91ron unleaded little to no timing, pushing standard fuel lol. Standard motor/gasket/cams.

Hey ur lucky you got to drive your car my gcg highflow blew on dyno couple of months back never looked back since kkr480 and now kkr560 went in. I personally had no probs with the kkr480 even when i ran 40psi for fun only couple of times though!!!.

Plus they just replace it with a brand new one unconditional replacement on the spot what company will do that????

Forgive my ignorance but how do you balance a turbo in degrees?

thats wat i was thinking. has to be the shaft that isnt balanced and has let go after some pressure started running through it.

the smallest warp or bounce that the shaft has will be magnified when it spins faster. thats wat makes it loose.

not really, may have been a small mis balance. it wont go straight away, will go over time as the balance issue will become bigger. hes only had the car running 12psi for 2 months and then he had it at 16 and 18 for the last 4 weeks or so b4 it went.

ive personally seen the car and the way tony drives, plus if something went through it like dirt, it wouldnt have caused this, would have ceased the shaft not made it shift its balance and bash inot the compressor housing.

That looks like something went through it.

If the turbo was out of balance it would have blown up the first time it spooled.

looks alot like the only that that has gone thru there has been parts of the comp wheel itself after if got on a bad angle and started to disintergrate

finally some1 who thinks along my lines, out of balance starts to break up, jams the comp wheel, and finally BOOM!!

Yep, sure does appear somthing has hit the compressor blades.

There is no way to damage the middle of the blades in that manner with just a cartridge failing.

I've killed one and seen a good number of others die, and its only ever the out edge of the wheel that gets minced up and the rest bent. Never chunked up in the middle

Usually its just the outer edge/bent wheel... but your wheel has some nice gouges taken out of the front of it which (more likely than not) is due to something smashing the blades at a high RPM shaft speed

i dont understand how something can hit the blades where theres no way something could have gone in. like i said ive inspected everything. the shaft moves back n forth ,up n down pretty badly

nothing flew through the blades except chunks of the compressor wheel as it breaks up. check the 2nd pick and see how many small chunks are taken out of the blade. these missing chunks would have caused the damage to the centre of the blades and im pretty sure ull find those pieces in ur cat tony, or in ur rear muffler.

Yeah, but its like what came first.

The Chicken or the Egg. :)

In this case, the middle-area of damage to the wheel would suggest it came first, and the rest of the failure came as a resulting factor... being the middle doesnt "damage itself". Its almost impossible id imagine

If i had i stupid leed for my n80 i could upload pics of my blown turbo the exhaust wheel is crushed and half was in my cat, the shafts where broken in 3 pieces and the core well there was nothing left of it.

And the turbo gets balanced in degrees again if i had a bloody leed i could proove this take ur compressor wheel of any turbo and you will see markings on the inside of the wheel and good quality turbos get balancing also takin off the sides of the wheels just slightly but just enough to balance it to within a degree or less, ring any reputable turbo place they should explain it!!!!!!

You dont just balance it once and its ok you have to do it a couple of times.

Geez i uset to work for the people who make the balancing machines, not just a simple machine anywhere from $250,000- $1,000,000 pretty awesome stuff dont know how they work but i uset to Clean them lol!!!

i beg to differ, i think the damage to the fin on the outer came first, by not being balanced, the edges hit at high rpm, broke away and caused damage to the centre. the more pieces that broke away the more damage to the centre.

therefore: the egg came before the chicken :)

Think about 150,000rpm.

something breaks it isnt going to stick around when its being sucked though.

Ive never seen personally the middle of the wheels damaged when the outer edge is only 'shaved' on the housing

i agree with you didnt balance it some slacko wanted a smoko and didnt get it till he finished it on the machine so he put it on auto or they did the final balancing by hand and just grinded the wheel cheaply and has someone got a n80 sycronise( not sure if right spelling) leed lol ill look for it dammit and make everyone see what im tryin to explain

if it breaks at the front, it gets sucked in through the blades, but a centrifugal force would be greater than the suction force therefore keeping the parts that break, infront of the blade before being sucked into it.

therefore again, proving my point, edges break, damage the blade in different places over time and eventually causes enough damage to the blade to kill the cartridge.

    • Yep that's pretty much what I want to see. Racecars that look and sound like the Group A but with newer tech underneath to make them faster and safer. I'm sure there's enough VK-to-VN commodore, E30 BMWs and Foxbody mustangs shells around to make up a decent number of cars with hopefully a couple of sierras, rx7 and R31s in there too.
    • Contact Jessestreeter.com/Skevas Racing/JustJap for a new r34 rb gearbox or go a cd00# conversion. No point playing with unknown condition gearboxes.
    • Such a shame places like Amaroo Park have been redeveloped, smaller tracks always make for good racing. Cheers for sharing @PranK there's some good Lakeside video's too. Its so hard with older the cars as parts are so rare and everything was made for a particular chassis at that point in time. Even the V8 Supercar Blueprint era cars are all different between each chassis within a team as they learnt things and made improvements. The COTF cars between each Chassis builder is different too especially motor/oil systems/intakes. The Group A stuff is worth so much too especially chassis with good history. The only way to do it would be composite panels and similar engine drivelines to the original cars. Ford sierra running Focus RS driveline, Commodore running a short stroke LS/LT or a Falcon with coyote and a H Pattern dog box. Could use a standard ecu across all models with a Torque Map and DBW for parity which is not even used in Supercars currently. Hell a TCM is almost a full chassis car these days and the suspension is not even close to standard style in the front running cars.
    • Dashcams Australia (13/05/25) captured JDMHSE (Vic plate) being a right tosser.
    • Wish someone would start a racing series for Group A replica cars, a bit like Touring Car Masters but for 1985 onwards and not grandpa's falcon and/or Monaro. I know they race in some historic class but that's for original cars, no replicas allowed.
