So this arvo a mate and I went at it to try and put in my HKS Cams, HKS Cam Gears and Greddy Rocker Stoppers!

Before :

And thats is it... there is no after cause we had to bail out, the cams I got came out of a Black Top SR with VCT, I was told that the cams should still fit in a Red Top SR but we cam across a slight problem. The cam bolt the bolts the cam gear onto the actual cam itself does not go in the cam due to the cams being specified to go into an SR20DET with VCT and the bolt is to big, So my question is can I retain the cams and use a cam bolt out of an VCT SR20 cut it down in size ( as they are longer to go through the VCT etc ) and bolt up my cam gear and put my cams in and done? Or do I have to get cams to suite Red Top only?

Bit of a bummer cause after cams were done everything else was going to follow and wiring also pretty much, now I have this problem... will be a pain to buy brand new cams when I had plans for other things.

i have been doing research about dropping a sr20 into my track built r32 for a while.

i currently run a r32 rb25de + t and we decided to a ) wait untill that pops as its been going strong and B ) put a S14 black top in as they are a better motor but that makes the whole job more expensive.

i also have the D-Max rear boot spoiler and roof wing the roof wing is yet to be painted and fitted. fitment on both the items is spot on. you really do get what you pay for.

about the only thing i would change now would be the front bar as i find the GTR bar just doesnt match any other kits. i have a full GTR front end on mine and we fitted up a B&N kit and then took it back off. i have gone back to stock GTS-t side skirts as they match the look better.

also what is that very JDM looking part on the back of the bonnet? what is it called or who makes it ect?

sorry for crapping on its just this car is very similar to mine althoe mine is 2 door.

Nick, if you buy it, I'll bring it down to melb from brissy for you when I drive down... sometime, as long as you're not fussed on waiting for me to drive down (could be a month or so).

I gotta bring the ceffy down and bring the R32 up sometime soon once its out of the workshop.

    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
