Ok, ive looked in other threads but cannot find an answer to my question, which is, is there anyway to disable climate control altogether so it just pumps out constant cold/hot air?

Dont flame me if this has already been answered somewhere plz :worship:

yeah i remember reading on sau somewhere, tutorial i think, about using resistors instead of the sensors to make the climate controll pump out at full power. i also know that if you hold onto the up button for a few seconds it will flash FH full heat. and if you hold down for a few seconds it will flash FC full cold.

i think it was FH and FC, cant remember, you'll know when you try it.

yeah i find the climate control useless.

Never use the auto setting on the AC. Just always set it to 18degrees and choose fan speed

One question i had was, what if its 16degrees outside and i want cold air flowing through the vents. Climate control only goes to 18degrees.

and the air isnt as cold as outside in this scenario

Does that mean it will pump some hot air out to make it 18degrees?

yeh, mine constantly either pumps out hot or cold air regardless of what temp teh controller is at. It can be quite annoying, but luckily atm its stuck on cold haha so its not so bad. Can Anyone help? Sorry to hijack thread...

haha that happens to me.

I pray for it to get stuck on cold when its a hot day :(

The problem is most likely your blend door servo motor. This controls the hot/cold flap. If the motor is dieing/jammed it will not move the flap according to the temperature you set it to.

To see if yours is working.

Get into passenger seat, stick your head in the foot area and try and look behind the headunit. You will see a metal rod and a white plastic clip attached to it.

Guide your arm towards the hot/cold buttons on the controller, and press quickly up/down. You will then see the white plastic clip attempt to move the metal rod which moves the position of the flap.

If nothing is moving, then its either jammed or dead.

Take it to an aircon mechanic he should be able to diagnose it.

Quote is about $70 second hand motor + $100~ labour to install.

to disable climate control on the R32 is easy.

you hold down the hot or cold button until it maxes out (ie.. 18 or 32) then it'll hit FC (forced cold or f**kin cold, whichever you prefer) or FH (forced heat or f**kin hot). Then you can use the fan button to vary the speed of the fan as it auto defaults to full fan speed too.

if you just want the fan to go on and not engage the climate control, then switch it off (nothing on the screen) then press the fan button. It'll turn just the fan on and blow whatever's outside thru or cycle whatever's inside.

you'll also notice that if you don't turn anything on, a steady stream of air trickles through. if you want to turn it off, then while its off, just press the recirculate button, and there'll be no air movement at all thru the system.

hope that helps... if your climate control isn't workin properly then its most likely that flap... sometimes its easy to fix yourself if its just jammed... I might post a DIY on how to lubricate/clean the lever assembly. I gotta clean my aircon filter this weekend.

oo didnt think about adjusting fan speed in FC mode, will give that a shot!

Wouldnt this blow at the displayed LCD temperature? I press the fan button and then the up arrow and it makes it hot air come out. So wouldnt this displayed temp have an affect on the air coming out?

that really shits me especially when flap is stuck in hot. Get this annoying flood of hot air.

Ive tried pressing the recirc button but i dont think it made a difference? Will give it another try

DIY would be great, not really keen on replacing the motor cause its too much money hehe

just the fan button (press repeatedly to control the speed)... if you press anything else it goes back to climate control mode and pwn's your ass.

Alot of useful info, thanks. My problem is that even if i got it on 18 degrees, it will blow cold air for a bit then blow ambient air for a while, and then cold again. Its not just constant cold air. When i press 'amb' button it says something like 37 degrees. Next time i drive my car, i will try the things mentioned. Thanks again.

I think that could be your system controlling the temperature. Like it reaches 18 degrees when it's blowing the cold air, but when it reaches the 18 degrees, it'll blow ambient air to keep it at 18 degrees not make it go down to 16 degrees or what ever.

Just hold down the 'cold' button for about 10secs or until 'FC' comes on and it should continue blowing cold air like others have mentioned.

i have an r33 but im pretty sure they have the same air con system.

first of all the temperature of the air depends on what mode you have it on or whether or not you have pushed the a/c button.

if its just the fan going it will push out ambient air, if the a/c button is pushed you can control the temp by the red/blue buttons and the speed by the fan button.

the Auto setting is a tricky one to figure out. Due to alot of the sensors in the older cars being screwed and the valves have all either broken or gotten stuck the auto button is usually not worth using imo.

the re-circulate button is the best as you dont get all that annoying hot air coming out at your feet and you will also notice a slight increase in the cars performance and fuel economy.

so basically just use the fan button the turn the air con on then select which ever mode you want. Then use the temp buttons, just avoid the auto button as its just a hassle.

r33 and r32 climate control are very different. r33's don't give you as much manual override as the R32.

In my R32 the climate control works fine, then once i had it set to hot, no matter what i changed on the control screen stayed hot, then few hours later it was working again. Im thinking either the motor that controls the flow to the heater core was sticking or the cabin temp sensor may be faulty, any ideas?

    • Who did you have do the installation? I actually know someone who is VERY familiar with the AVS gear. The main point of contact though would be your installer.   Where are you based in NZ?
    • Look, realistically, those are some fairly chunky connectors and wires so it is a reasonably fair bet that that loom was involved in the redirection of the fuel pump and/or ECU/ignition power for the immobiliser. It's also fair to be that the new immobiliser is essentially the same thing as the old one, and so it probably needs the same stuff done to make it do what it has to do. Given that you are talking about a car that no-one else here is familiar with (I mean your exact car) and an alarm that I've never heard of before and so probably not many others are familiar with, and that some wire monkey has been messing with it out of our sight, it seems reasonable that the wire monkey should be fixing this.
    • Wheel alignment immediately. Not "when I get around to it". And further to what Duncan said - you cannot just put camber arms on and shorten them. You will introduce bump steer far in excess of what the car had with stock arms. You need adjustable tension arms and they need to be shortened also. The simplest approach is to shorten them the same % as the stock ones. This will not be correct or optimal, but it will be better than any other guess. The correct way to set the lengths of both arms is to use a properly built/set up bump steer gauge and trial and error the adjustments until you hit the camber you need and want and have minimum bump steer in the range of motion that the wheel is expected to travel. And what Duncan said about toe is also very true. And you cannot change the camber arm without also affecting toe. So when you have adjustable arms on the back of a Skyline, the car either needs to go to a talented wheel aligner (not your local tyre shop dropout), or you need to be able to do this stuff yourself at home. Guess which approach I have taken? I have built my own gear for camber, toe and bump steer measurement and I do all this on the flattest bit of concrete I have, with some shims under the tyres on one side to level the car.
    • Thought I would get some advice from others on this situation.    Relevant info: R33 GTS25t Link G4x ECU Walbro 255LPH w/ OEM FP Relay (No relay mod) Scenario: I accidentally messed up my old AVS S5 (rev.1) at the start of the year and the cars been immobilised. Also the siren BBU has completely failed; so I decided to upgrade it.  I got a newer AVS S5 (rev.2?) installed on Friday. The guy removed the old one and its immobilisers. Tried to start it; the car cranks but doesnt start.  The new one was installed and all the alarm functions seem to be working as they should; still wouldn't start Went to bed; got up on Friday morning and decided to have a look into the no start problem. Found the car completely dead.  Charged the battery; plugged it back in and found the brake lights were stuck on.  Unplugging the brake pedal switch the lights turn off. Plug it back in and theyre stuck on again. I tested the switch (continuity test and resistance); all looks good (0-1kohm).  On talking to AVS; found its because of the rubber stopper on the brake pedal; sure enough the middle of it is missing so have ordered a new one. One of those wear items; which was confusing what was going on However when I try unplugging the STOP Light fuses (under the dash and under the hood) the brake light still stays on. Should those fuses not cut the brake light circuit?  I then checked the ECU; FP Speed Error.  Testing the pump again; I can hear the relay clicking every time I switch it to ON. I unplugged the pump and put the multimeter across the plug. No continuity; im seeing 0.6V (ECU signal?) and when it switches the relay I think its like 20mA or 200mA). Not seeing 12.4V / 7-9A. As far as I know; the Fuel Pump was wired through one of the immobiliser relays on the old alarm.  He pulled some thick gauged harness out with the old alarm wiring; which looks to me like it was to bridge connections into the immobilisers? Before it got immobilised it was running just fine.  Im at a loss to why the FP is getting no voltage; I thought maybe the FP was faulty (even though I havent even done 50km on the new pump) but no voltage at the harness plug.  Questions: Could it be he didnt reconnect the fuel pump when testing it after the old alarm removal (before installing the new alarm)?  Is this a case of bridging to the brake lights instead of the fuel pump circuit? It's a bit beyond me as I dont do a lot with electrical; so have tried my best to diagnose what I think seems to make sense.  Seeking advice if theres for sure an issue with the alarm install to get him back here; or if I do infact, need an auto electrician to diagnose it.
    • Then, shorten them by 1cm, drop the car back down and have a visual look (or even better, use a spirit level across the wheel to see if you have less camber than before. You still want something like 1.5 for road use. Alternatively, if you have adjustable rear ride height (I assume you do if you have extreme camber wear), raise the suspension back to standard height until you can get it all aligned properly. Finally, keep in mind that wear on the inside of the tyre can be for incorrect toe, not just camber
