YEAHGTR
hey all, Thanks for your imput. No it does depend on the Cop that pulls you over. 99% of the time the cop is a DICK cause he knows that you car can be defected and if you are in anyway rude they will defect it. I have been pulled over several times and for no reason the cop has been a complete cock. And if they wanna be a dick and cant defect you for anything they get all shitty. My point is that they are unfair even if your car is STANDARD they still feel they have the right to harass us. I know alot of you may not agree with everything i say but it is the truth. Hey dude, you know what the funny thing is, a standard, off-the-shelf SR20DET doesn't even comply with Australian emmsion expectations/ levels!!!! So i have no idea how on earth they import them all!!! And as soon as i get my licence back - in approx 11.5months time - I'm buying an S15 woooo lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/195085-cops/page/2/#findComment-3498188 Share on other sites

scathing
Cars are a sport for us and its like telling a football player he was to wear flippers instead of his football shoes. Im sure alot of us have been pulled over just for having a nice car and being harrassed for no real reason( I know i have, several times). Yeah, but that doesn't mean you don't have to obey the rules. You can still drive sports cars, and there are plenty of quick sports cars out there that are totally street legal. If a footballer wants to wear boots with studs he can, but they're only allowed to be a certain length and he's not allowed to sharpen them up to spikes. Sure, a 2" long spike might provide better traction but they might also kill someone. The rules on modifying cars are no different. And, just like with a footballer, if you don't like the rules you don't have to play the game. As for your mate, his car wasn't street legal. Simple as that. Sure you get dickhead cops as well as cool cops, but his problem right now is passing emissions so its not a cop problem its a car problem. Your rant doesn't appear that he wasn't doing anything wrong and got in trouble, but he got caught doing something wrong and is now struggling to make it right. sleek3
sammy obviously if your mates car wasn't illegally modified with air filter and bov and all that showing then they would have gotton him straight away i got pulled over and they lifted my bonnet and put it right back down since they couldn't see the obvious, and do you really have a r35 gtr Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/195085-cops/page/2/#findComment-3499195 Share on other sites
Ryan D
Just get an engineers certificate for your extra goodies and you can throw it in their faces when they do there "Random" breath tests, note that itll only cover you for whats listed (on another note, its total BS that us import drivers have to put up with a higher percentage of "Random" breath tests and then the stupid questions afterwards) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/195085-cops/page/2/#findComment-3499427 Share on other sites
T04GTR
yeah at the end of the day, with scipioni in charge its only gonna get worse. and your attitude is very important. if your a dick then they will take you to the cleaners. if they hate imports (not all do) then you are really at the descresion of the cop. very important to keep an engineer report in the car at all times. because most highways arnt exacly confident mechanicly and dont know what or why the "defective" part is or does. like my external wastegate screemer pipe being a blow off valve lol. Sorry fella but how is the knowing your car has defects and then applying the law make him a dick? He's a dick because he did it to you? They can not just defect you for anything they like...they do defect you for obvious emission violations, illegal mods and unroadworthy items. If you find yourself getting defected multiple times & the car passes without changing a single item, then yeah you're most probably being harassed and should complain accordingly...starting with the station commander and working your way up. You could also sue for the inconvenience caused by your lack of transport and public humiliation/trauma ect. Also if you are being rude to a public servant I reckon you deserve a slap, it'd be a thankless and shitty job I think and I'm glad that there are peeps brave enough out there to do it. Being rude or even stand offish to them just re-enforces the obvious stereotype you most probably feel percecuted for in the first place. A little further down lifes road you'll hopefully see all of this for the idiotic crap it really is. Try and remember there is no us and them...only us Edited November 27, 2007 by madbung Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/195085-cops/page/2/#findComment-3499523 Share on other sites
Abo Bob
Actually they can and do defect people for whatever they like. Steveo got defected for having too many km's on the clock and something, I think it was the airbox, was "too shiny". I kid you not. Now obviously the defect doesn't stand up to an engineers scrutiny, or a court's for that matter, but this doesn't stop them from issuing it in the first place and wasting your time and money to get it cleared. The problem really is there are too many laws for the coppers to fully understand, and it's not just them, there's too many for anyone. It's my opinion that most kids start off with a good opinion of the law but sometime from their late teens to early twenties they have at least one, if not a number of bad experiences with coppers. When I was younger I was pulled over and harassed regularly. I was usually polite and nice to them but let's be honest, if you are just cruising along, minding your own business, doing nothing illegal and you get pulled over and questioned like a criminal, threatened if you ask a question, no matter how polite, you are not going to think highly of anyone in that uniform. Steveo got defected for having too many km's on the clock and something, I think it was the airbox, was "too shiny". I kid you not. That one you've probably got a good chance of getting torn up by just going to the local station house and having a polite word to someone in charge of around sergeant rank- provided you where not doing anything wrong or didn't have any real defects, it should go away. (With a good chance of whoever issued it getting a huge chewing on) I was usually polite and nice to them but let's be honest, if you are just cruising along, minding your own business, doing nothing illegal and you get pulled over and questioned like a criminal, threatened if you ask a question, no matter how polite, you are not going to think highly of anyone in that uniform. Yeah I think everyone's ended up at that point at some time in their lives and it is extremely uncomfortable. madbung
Yeah as I said Bob if it is a bogus defect and you are being harrassed there are things you can do about. Basically the officer is abusing his power and if you follow through it'll cost him alot more than you... If it's the same officer I'd try a restraining order...get him locked up next time he pulls you over I did cover all that in the first post. Sure there are dicks in every job..but atleast if a cops being one you can hold him to task for his abuse of power as a popo off. I wish. lol No but have been pulled over so many times and my car cant be defected(thank god) cause i have done everything LEGALLY and the cop was a DICK about it. He couldnt defect the car so he searched it and was really shitty. There is alot of good police officers but with everything there is alot of dicks! Im not on here trying to start agruements but im sick and tired of being pulled over for JUST a random breath test, being harrassed then told to take it easy on the roads(which i had done nothing wrong). And i know alot of people have the same thing done to them. And they sometimes get defected. I feel its unfair when u get pulled over for NOTHING and get up driving away with a defect DONT YOU!! 2BNVS
ive had heaps of trouble with cops, minding my own business, making u turns to say " this is a random breath test" bullshit... my old man didnt believe me till we went for a few drives... although once i was extremeley surprised, i was driving down to melbourne, car looked as it does today, big chromes, orange, big kit etc etc.. was on my Red P's.. got stopped in goulburn, (let off) and on the way back i got stopped at Albury at rbt with about 20 cops (let off) and about 10km up the road (let off)... i felt like buying a lottery ticket... but all in all, that was the only time they have been good to me... everyother time has been hassles Engineering wont get u out of trouble, just creates more headaches... my mates rx3 had full engineering and he got raped hard, another mate got sent to the pits if a cop wants to defect u he will, and if he follows the book and doesnt get u if ur engineered, they will find Something, like not enough water in the washer bottle or a tail light slightly less bright that the other people say keep ur car legally modified... unless u do a retrim and maybe put 1" bigger wheels on, theres no such thing... if its a modification, a cop can defect u...u can fight it but again more headaches and hassles Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/195085-cops/page/2/#findComment-3500495 Share on other sites

padey
Police will wreck you if; 1) If you fail the attitude test 2) if you are obviously in the wrong place at the wrong time, illegal drags, driving like a tool..... 3) Have obvious illegal mods. Ride height, loud exhaust, P-platers with ghey neon's under their car, sound systems rivaling jumbo jets. These are all obvious signs that say, pull me over, bend me over and wreck me. 4) Did i mention fail the attitude test!!!! A clear sign you've failed the test is calling police, dicks. BTW you are not obliged to open your bonnet if you know you are clearly supporting illegal modifications like most show cars, unless the police suspect you of hiding drugs. For example if i owned a full-sick-subwoffer-drifting-hecktic-Rbaby-gangster show car, and the police HWY patrol pulled me over as i was leaving Autosalon for an RBT i wouldn't open my bonnet. But you have to be prepared to be taken down to the station and time in a holding cell. Most cops don't want to go through the pain of taking you down to the station, but some will. From memory if you do that you get some time before your car has to pass EPA. ie EPA always have a backlog. BUT... MAKE SURE U RECORD IT ON UR PHONE 2 BECAUSE POLICE TEND TO EDIT THE RECORDING AND MUTE THE THING, just make sure after u press the record button, u let the officer know. it might let the cop know u will be taking it to court and he cant be stuffed or he knows he aint doing it right. But yeah what can you do. +1 i went into blacktown cop shop to ask them about this new operation for stolen cars that i read in the paper Dubbo police were trialing,i just asked if they(blacktown cops) were trialling it too,or have they considered it.The young copper at front desk was nice enough but wasnt sure about the new 'operation' thing so he asked an elder cop behind a desk(behind the main desk) the older cop looks at me and says sarcasticaly "You read something about Dubbo and come into Blacktown?" I said "Yeah, just seeing if you were doing the same thing?" that was it,he went back talking to his partner and the young cop came back and said "nah i giess not" Like F&*k i wasn't being a smart-a$$,i know it was about Dubbo the thing i read, but no need to try and treat me like an idiot. D3bb4
Wonder if mazda 323's will be on the ban list now somebody got caught doing 137 in 50 zone... Or, perhaps they might re-consider their b/s laws... Or; somehow i doubt it.
