Currently undecided between the 13th or 20th of January (Both Sundays). What suits everyone best. I am find for either dates. I will choose the date that most prefer and a decision will be made within the next week.

Regarding the destination, I have an awesome destination but it IS a full tank round trip. I could probably dumb it down a bit, but the full tank cruise will be really enjoyable and liked by most. It also involves a small 100m drive on a dirt road to get to the camp site, I hope no-one should have an issue with that (mine is lowish and that road is no problems)

I am planning a meet up time of around 11am with a depart of 12 noon. The meet spot is going to be in the SE suburbs around Nunawading. We will have a petrol stop on the way at BP and it will be a 2h drive to get to the camp site. After maybe 2h at the site (includes parking, fire starting, cooking, talking, etc) we will head off again with an expected return to Melbourne of 6pm.

There will be winding roads on the way there, winding roads there and winding roads on the way back. I again assume everyone will be down with that.

I will update this post with the final details in a weeks time when we settle on what date we want it on.

So now, expressions of interest and best dates for all.

Dates are fine with me....my only request would be a central location..maybe Albert Park lake or similar as I would be more interested in a get together rather than a long drive anywhere.

Bugga! All of Jan is out for me due to my partner working and myself looking after our daughter (and she doesn't love the car that much!)

I think a mid year GOR run would be good so I'll try to raise the question later in the New Year.

Have fun guys! (Any VL's going AC? :D )

Cheers

Luke

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
