benny_blanco
When did you last see a production falcon or commodore roll off the production line with a 302 windsor or 307 chev? hahaha good point. mind you if ford and holden kept loosing then it would be bad for car sales. Cant wait to see this thing race though, I can see it being the next DR30 or R32 GT-R in the history books Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/198151-r35-for-bathurst-12hr/page/2/#findComment-3574313 Share on other sites
Smitizen
Nissan should create a GT-R cup similar to the porsche carrera cup I second that!!! GTR could also challenge the Porshes to me thinks!!! _8OO5TED_
I would give anything to see nissan running around bathurst in the big race lapping all the shitbox's again... the V8 supercars are hardly shitboxes...... However, it would be good to see a mix on the mountain again. m3gtr
sorry if this is a repost but this has to be one of the earliest candidates for "Motorsporting comment of the year award" "The organisers of V8 Supercars wouldn’t let us race in 1993 and I can guarantee they’re not going to let us race in 2008. It’s not a taxi as you know." :laughing-smiley-014: :laughing-smiley-014: :laughing-smiley-014: :laughing-smiley-014: :laughing-smiley-014: :laughing-smiley-014: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/198151-r35-for-bathurst-12hr/page/2/#findComment-3577203 Share on other sites

xr8eater
the V8 supercars are hardly shitboxes...... the z tune laped 16 seconds faster than a v8 super car they are shit boxes and the whats linkage what is with that. A peice of rio welded to a diff for an excuse to say the car is laping slower when its broken moded taxis thats it thats all they are Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/198151-r35-for-bathurst-12hr/page/2/#findComment-3581501 Share on other sites
Duncan
ahh cmon I don't like taxis but there is no way a z tune lapped anywhere faster than a v8 supertaxi. proof please? z tune would be about 16 sec slower not faster (well maybe only 10 sec slower) around most tracks. xr8eater
does any one have the test done with one of the v8 super car driver in a z tune it was posted on this web site? thats where the time was and im inclined to belive it 4wd vs 2wd out of corners is devistating Edited January 15, 2008 by xr8eater Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/198151-r35-for-bathurst-12hr/page/2/#findComment-3583466 Share on other sites
scathing
does any one have the test done with one of the v8 super car driver in a z tune it was posted on this web site? There was a test like that? I recall seeing posts about the Toyota Supra GT500 doing testing at Queensland Raceway. Even on dead tyres with their first time out on the track, it blitzed the V8 Supertaxi lap record (by your quoted 10-15s, I think). The Nismo GT500 cars were at least as quick, if not quicker. And there's no way a Z-Tune is as quick as a GT500 car, which are regarded as some of the quickest tin-tops in the world due to their aero and suspension. thats where the time was and im inclined to belive it 4wd vs 2wd out of corners is devistating Ah, but the V8 Supercars run full slicks. The Z-Tune can be optioned with R-Comps from Nismo, but there's still a massive traction advantage when comparing the respective tyres. The V8 Supercars will also have superior aero and suspension, since they don't need to make allowances for road use, and they also weigh less and have 100hp more power with no turbo lag. There's also the matter that the V8 Supercars get set up specifically for each track whereas the Z-Tune doesn't get optimised in the same way. Not saying it wouldn't be close, but in the dry its hard to see how a purpose built top-tier race car is slower than a fully road-legal street car. R32Abuser
how could a Z-tune beat a V8 supercar by 16seconds...i see it as being physically impossible if you look at the statistics. Drive train- RWD vs AWD (admitedly AWD is superior in some situations, however, this is HUGELY tyre dependent regarding the ztune) Engine- 620bhp 5.0L V8, no lag striaght out brute horsepower vs 2.8L L6 turbocharged ~ 500-600bhp but that sed either way its down on horspower and down on throtle repsonse. Nothing beats having cubes behind you. Suspension-not sure on teh V8's but i believe they are btoh a double wishbone setup under project blueprint, bit different to the GTR's double wishbone with a trailing arm but still both would be on a close level playing field. The only thing here i can see as an advantage for the z tune is the wheel base. Either way you look at it, even if it was to beat a v8 supercar, it wouldnt be by 16 seconds round any track i know. Unless the supercar was being driven by some half rate amatuer. Duncan
well true russ, but your car is the quickest gtr in Aus, and so far quicker than a z tune. In fact there are plenty of modified gtrs that make more power than a z tune. Also....like you said the mid corner speed is no comparison. the taxis would kill anything but the most stripped out gtr.
