Im having a prob with farel cats they keep jumping on our cars and sleeping under our patio and its really anoying :P We have tried all sorts of things from chassing them and giving them a scare to the odd sling shot but no luck. This might seem like a stupid post but after putting up with dead birds, cat piss and cat paw prints on cars its pissed me of so any help would be good.

Cheers

Dave

sling shot's a bit slack :( . shooing them or spraying them with a water bottle wont really solve the problem long term.

if the cats are able to be caught, take them to your local vet (they can usually hire out a cage for you if you leave a deposit). get a cage that opens from the top so you can drop them in and slam the cage shut. the vets will scan them for a mchip, and if they are rehomeable, they can adopt them out after 1-2 weeks depending on whether or not they have ID.

if they're completely feral do the above but put on some garden gloves and throw a thick towel over them and shove them in the cage. if you can corner them into a room eg. garage, you'll increase your chances. the more people helping out the better.

if they're just too psycho, don't try and catch them, you'll just injure yourself. completely feral cats will usually win, i know, i work at a vets. i'd say the vets will most likely euthanase them sooner rather than later if they're completely nuts

at my work they sell an ammonia based spray that's supposed to ward off cats and dogs called 'get off', but i haven't had much feedback from clients as we've only just started stocking it, so i don't know how effective it is.

otherwise talk to your local vet rspca or council and see if they have any other suggestions, or can assist you somehow

last resort - adopt a jack russell from the pound that has a sign on it's cage saying 'i don't get along with cats' :/

Rubber snakes and lots of pepper where they sleep.......sprinkle the pepper daily, you should only need the pepper for 2-3 weeks.

Place snakes in life like positions near where the cats, piss-sleep so they'll be able to spot them from your cars, veranda ect..

I learnt this from a bit of lateral thinking and trial and error.... it works a treat.

Full bottles of water (like empty pet Coke bottles refilled) - not sure why cats don't like them, but they don't - or the dodgy black cat cardboard cutouts with reflective eyes you can buy from cheapie shops.

lol, never heard of that before, if it works great, but that will only push the problem on to someone else, and the feral cats will continue to piss people off and destroy wildlife.....if you care :(

You're welcome.... I had a cat lady up the road a few years back, 50+ cats, they used to spray my doormat and use my lawn as a sand box........now even the cat nxt door stays away, You'll need a fair amount of pepper (makes grooming ect uncomfortable) the snakes are the best bit, if you see one spot one of your snakes you'll have a laugh. I previously tried the commercial cat off ect with no luck.

might be a bit out of line but when i was a jackroo and we needed to sort a feral cat,

the best i found was a big gang hook with some liver on it hung about 3 foot of the ground.... :(

they jump up to bite the the meat and thats the issue solved. feral cats are a fair issue in the bush, anywhere and they dont belong.

sorry if ive upset some animal lovers but.....

good luck with them.

-1 for the water bottles, doens't do a thing... must work in the same way that putting a teaspoon in a bottle of champagne stops it going flat :(

Catch one and see if it can breathe underwater.......... :(

haha and lose your arm in the process? Ever tried to get a cat near water? they will kind of cling to your arm and dig their claws in very deep.

I owned a cat until recently - had to give it away cos I'm moving interstate and cant afford to put it into a cattery or risk not getting a rental place due to owning a pet - was very sad to give him away but at least he's still happy and looked after.

Feral cats on the other hand I dont have a lot of sympathy for. I've heard they can be quite nasty. However they will kill rats and mice and even snakes so can be handy if you live in a rural area.

The pepper method above sounds like a good one :/

Also be aware that killing the cats may not be what you want either - because you will inevitably be the one cleaning them up....and that wouldn't be pretty or fun.

Mmm...cats don't like panadol thats true, reason being their kidneys can't cope with it. High doses will put a cat into a coma and eventually kill it... or if it doesnt die it will give it irreversable kidney damage.

Warfarin is good in the respect that it leaves a rellatively odourless corpse incase it crawls under the house or similar to die.

Not nearly as much fun as pepper and well placed rubber snakes though >_<

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
