Hey guys, my head has just been machined down again (2nd time), and i was initially going to go 1.2mm thick headgasket, but now im thinking of going 1.5mm!, as its had previous machine work done to it already, even though the machine work that had taken place recent was only the most tiny minimal amount....

The previous rebuilder had put a standard thickness gtr headgasket on, and i was wanting something more thick to be on the safe side....besides are the factory gaskets any good compared to say the tome metal ones, ie if we were comapring same thickness factory, to same thickness aftermarket metal

What is the stock thickness of the gtr gasket? is it 0.9mm?

Mate, who machined the head, they should be able to tell you, they can measure the thickess of the head and tell you how much it has been machined. (and its a good idea to post all your questions in the same thread, not starting another one )

i can find out for you.......thanks, is there such a thing as over machining the head? is there a point where its not safe to machine the head anymore?......like a mark on the head were past that point it shouldnt be done sort of thing?
